What happens here

This video demonstrates a specific roof framing technique that utilizes rafter-to-rafter strapping installed beneath the roof sheathing. This method aims to eliminate the need for traditional collar ties. The video addresses how to still effectively nail the plywood sheathing when the strapping is installed in this manner, specifically by offsetting the strapping slightly and toenailing into the rafters and ridge.

We got a lot of comments about this video and people saying that the strap should go on top of the plywood. The plans call for rafterto-rafter strapping and that's going to eliminate the need for collar ties underneath. What we do so that we can still nail the sheathing is just offset it the tiniest bit so we can still toenail our sheathing into that rafter. It's only 12 in to the ridge, so it's not a big deal. Then we can also toenail into the side of the ridge on the whole length of that plywood panel. So that's how we do it. That's what the plans call for. Take it or leave it. Peace.
