Why American Farmers are selling cows! Is this normal?

Why are you selling cows, Josh? I thought you were a cattle farmer. Well, we want to downsize for winter. These cows are having babies. They're going to start popping babies out. We've got about 43 animals here right now. And I'm going to be getting rid of 1 2 3 4 five. Uh there'll be three heers and two steers that are going to be going. We got to downsize a little bit for winter and then the mamas will start having babies again in the spring. I'm actually considering downsizing from my normal stocking rate, which is I've got about 40 something cows that stay here all the time. I think about dropping it down to 15 to be a little easier on the land. Give them more to graze and that way I don't have to feed so much hay. I think the profit's going to be just about the same. There isn't much profit to be made on a small cattle farm like this, but there's a little bit. I was able to buy that uh diesel truck with the profit from the farm this year.
