When to Remove Your Caulked Masking Tape? Painting HACK
What happens here
Apply a thin, consistent bead of paintable caulk (clear is preferred for this demonstration) along the inside edge of one of the parallel Frog Tape lines on the textured wall. Immediately after applying the caulk, use a gloved finger to gently wipe away the excess. The goal is not to leave a thick bead, but rather to push a thin film of caulk into the tiny voids between the tape and the textured wall, creating a smooth, sealed edge. This immediate wiping prevents the caulk from drying onto the tape in a way that would cause 'bridging' and peeling later. The other taped line is left uncaulked for comparison.
Goal: This crucial step involves applying a thin bead of paintable caulk along one edge of the masking tape and immediately wiping it to create a sealed barrier against paint bleed.
