hey folks this is Josh Tony range farmer welcome to the farm blog today we've had some attacks some attacks late at night here on the farm and it's not coyotes it's my neighbor's dog today I'm going to take you around the farm I'm going to show you what's been going on first we're gonna go check on the goats the goats are far enough away from my neighbor's house and I don't think that they'll be bothered but we've got a serious issue with a neighbor's dog roaming over and killing our animals not cool at all come along on the farm blog today we'll talk a little bit about country life and about how to deal with this I really I want some feedback from you guys on how to deal with this because I really like my neighbor he's a really good guy [Music] Billy is a fainting goat and Billy's legs will stiffen up and so is that good see how his legs stiffen up they're both fainting goats and their legs will stiffen up when you scare them a little bit so if you spook them a little bit it scares them now the funny thing about fainting goats is people think that you can just go boo and scare a fainting goat and they're just gonna fall over well it's not quite the case so they get you totally used to me but if some stranger comes up here they'll just just fall right out it's pretty funny if a stranger just goes ah they'll go boom fall over we're gonna feed the goats a little bit make sure they've got water these are our goat chickens I don't know if I've discussed the goat chickens before on the channel but we have chickens up here with the goats just for this simple purpose right here to get in there and do what they're doing stirring up all the manure stirring up all the litter stirring up stuff and picking through and eating stuff that passes through the goat that might still be good for a chicken all right Oh oh my god there you go guys don't give the goats much grain this time of year they have plenty of forage and plenty of hay out here I don't know if I made mention of it before but we're gonna be thinning out our goat herd pretty soon I just have too many darn goats and I want to thin it out to about half the number I have I really just want to keep like two billy goats and two nanny goats and get rid of the rest of them we're using them basically for weed eaters or weed whackers around the farm here to clean up a little bit and they pretty much served their purpose at this point everything that we need it cleared has been cleared pretty much and the rest of its going to be a hog pen it's gonna be awesome let's ride down here to the pond and show you what happened not cool not a good situation and an uncomfortable situation to have a discussion with a neighbor that you really care about that you really like I guess first we need to talk about the chickens so I had four guineas and one hen running around outside basically free-ranging scratching up digging eatin bugs eating worms and then we're out for several days and then all of a sudden boom no guineas no chickens no nothing now I'm inclined to think that that was a predator of some sort being a fox or being a coyote now we did a coyote hunting the other day tried to do it on camera but we didn't see any coyotes so we didn't publish a video about it but we did hunt and I am hearing coyotes kind of back in this direction of the farm nightly between my house and my neighbor's house my neighbor has a lot of cats and the cats are coming up missing also so we definitely know we have a coyote problem now the dog thing is something different that's over at the pond and that's closer to another neighbor's house that's right over there and I'll tell you about you guys probably recognized this area of the farm from the video the other day where we're dragging up saw logs it is muddy muddy muddy muddy over here you see the mud hole behind me try and stay out of the mud as much as I can I hate it that this dug got it last night though so this is kill number two this happened yesterday afternoon these ducks kind of roam all about I'm not going to show you a bunch of dead duck so these Ducks kind of roam all around all over the place here and eat grass and grass seeds and bugs and worms and all kinds of critters and they sleep on the pond they roost on the pond I've had these ducks out here for a long time for a longer than six months and had no troubles whatsoever and then the dog attack so the other day there was ice on the ground and I saw something a ruckus going on and I saw something run back up toward the neighbor's house later on I found the pile of feathers we'll go over and see that too I don't know really how to approach this with my neighbor I like my neighbor I like all my neighbors I'm not positive that it's his dog it may be some stray dog that's running around here but there is a dog that's killing ducks that is duck number two in three days and another one got it last week now if it were a predator I would assume that the animal would be drugged off and eaten consumed the other duck the first duck do we lost just had its head gone and that was it then I thought maybe a possum did that but we got a bad dog we got a bad dog problem here in the neighborhood so this is what's left of Charlie Charlie died this Sunday something came down the hill from up here and killed Charlie the body was still left here it was not consumed I think it was the neighbor's dog I don't know it could have been a wild dog I don't know but we're gonna have to have a talk with the neighbor guys I want your opinion how should I handle this what should I do what should I say I don't expect them to replace the duck I mean it just seems silly but I do expect him to understand what I'm going through here and to keep his dog up I mean I understand we live in the country and dogs can run around and have fun and live that country life but when they're running around destroying other people's animals it's not a good thing guys post me a comment down there tell me what you think I should do how I should approach this I really like my neighbor I really like his dog his dog is a sweet dog I'm not positive it was his dog but I do know it was a dog from the neighborhood here that's causing the problem so let me know what you guys think and we'll catch you next time here on the Stoney Ridge farm I thank you a whole lot for viewing be sure and pound that like button subscribe to the channel and click that little Bell icon down there and then notify when we post a new video here on the farm alright I'm proud of Who I am I made a
