What To Paint First With A Paint Sprayer. Painting Steps With A Sprayer. Painting Tips.

What happens here

Spraying ceilings and walls can be challenging, particularly if they are not a flat sheen, as it often results in lap marks and flashing. For spraying ceilings, using a good quality flat paint that is specifically designed for spraying, such as Sherwin Williams Eminence, can eliminate lap marks. To speed up the drying time of sprayed trim for subsequent masking, it is recommended to increase the room temperature to about 80 degrees Fahrenheit. With ideal conditions and using a suitable tape like 3M 2020, trim can typically be masked over approximately four hours after spraying without the paint being pulled off, provided the trim was properly prepped beforehand.

Goal: Understand and mitigate issues like lap marks, flashing, and paint drying time when spraying

trim. So, it's always sprayed. When it comes to spraying ceilings, ceilings are probably the most difficult thing thing to do with an airless sprayer. And trying to spray a ceiling and not get lap marks. If you're using any type of sheen other than the flat sheen is extremely extremely difficult. So, if your ceilings are a satin sheen or anything other than flat, you really should actually roll them. But, we like doing our ceilings flat cuz we like the look of it. And you can actually spray them if you're using a good product that is sprayable. We use a product from Sher Williams called Eminence and we've had very good success with it actually spraying ceilings with it. So, but if you're actually doing your walls and ceilings the same sheen like satin, you're probably going to have to roll them if you want them to look nice. I will actually get questions occasionally, how fast can you actually mask over your paint or your trim after you've sprayed it? And from our experience, the products that we use the the trim once we sprayed our trim, if you have ideal conditions where it's at 70° or above in the house, we typically jack the temperature up to about 80° when we're spraying our trim. But once our trim is sprayed, typically in about 4 hours later, the tape that we use, we can actually go back and tape over that trim and to uh begin rolling our walls. And that's the tape we use. We use a product from 3M called 2020 and it can be masked over the trim typically in about 4 hours and it won't actually pull off the paint if your trim is prepped properly.
