this christy idaho painter here on paint live tv today is all about pants so i get a lot of questions and comments or even a lot of questions in my videos and on my social media what pants am i wearing so i'm going to talk about the pants i really like a whole lot and i'm going to talk about the pants i don't really like a whole lot this is all about pants so if you want to know great painter pants to wear and not so great painter pants to wear stay tuned for this video all right so i'm going to get on with reviewing a lot of pants i got a big pile of pants here and i'm i think there's might be like four or five brands and i've had the opportunity to wear a lot of different pants in my painting career and some pants i really hated and some pants i really love and i'm going to start off with probably the best pair of paint appearance i've ever worn and these are painter pants you should wear now when it comes to painter pants i really believe looking professional and acting professional is very important when it comes to being a professional painter and looking professional wearing your brand wearing nice shirts wearing nice pants and nice nice shoes and being clean cut are very important to the success they were important to the success of my company and i was very particular about the clothing i wore especially my pants now i'm not a big fan of baggy pants i'm a big fan of pants that actually are cut to fit and fit well and i don't like the walk around baggy because in my opinion i just don't think it looks very professional now um there's a lot of different cuts and and styles of painter pants here and i'll show you the pants if you've watched some of my videos probably over the last year now um you're seeing me wear a pair of thrive painter pants and here's the logo right on the back these are thrive workwear so it comes from a company called thrive and it's thriveworkwear.com and what a lot of people are noticing about these pants is the built-in knee pads and some get a lot of questions about that because that's the first thing this is a fairly new pair you can see there is some paint on them i've worn them a few times now one of the things i noticed about these pants here's an older pair this is probably one of the first pairs that i got when i got them they were built super heavy with super thick material and built-in knee pads and i really liked the feel of being in pants that were thick and heavy now some of the drawbacks to that might be that's it's a little bit too hot for you outside it was never a problem with me even working in 105 degree weather but these pants the built-in knee pads they're called squish the technology squish knee pads and it's right here the logo right there they do not come out they stand all the time and as many as many times as these things have been through the wash the knee pad still isn't curled up and it's still actually spongy feels almost like it did when it's brand new absolutely incredible i've never worn a pair of uh pants that actually had sony knee pads i've had them where you can slip them in and out and um but this is uh great because you have to go out and hunt for your knee pads in the van they're always in your your pants and i absolutely love that feature some of the other things about the pants and one of the things that actually drives me crazy about low quality pants is the bottom of the pants now i'll get to a pair of pants that on most pants when you wash them the cuff down here gets all flipped up and crinkled and stuff like that and i would iron my pants because that absolutely drove me crazy when these things come out of the wash they are never all wrinkled up they look absolutely amazing just coming out of the wash these are freshly washed and they're not all crinkled and folded everywhere and certain features like your hammer um feature right here it's not all um squished up and folded up increased your hammer can slip in it really easy super thick and i like to describe them kind of like a carhartt style material they're really really thick and to me basically indestructible you end up paying quite a bit of money for the pants because they're going to last you a whole long time i'm never a big fan of wiping paint on my pants or wiping caulking on my pants because they're expensive and i also want to look clean look professional so here's heavy duty zippers on these things heavy duty buttons heavy duty stitching all the way around heavy duty pants they've got huge thick belt loops in here these are at least a year old now and there's no holes there's no worn spots in the seat pants or anything absolutely incredible pants the new version i just got them like a month a month or two ago and they did get complaints from people about uh the pants being a little bit too hot so the the thickness of this material they've made it a little bit thinner now so they'll be cooler but it's the same thing when you wash these pants the cuffs extremely thick cuffs they don't come out all creased because that's one of the biggest pet peeves of painter pants that i have is them coming now all crinkly and messed up where i have to iron them so these came out of the wash you can see they're nice clean fresh the loops are all not all creased and kinked and they're ready to go no ironing these ones right here same squished knee pad in them what i'm wearing here is their option these are thrive work wear pants right here too without knee pads and i was a real big fan of the ones with knee pads and um i'm a big fan of these without knee pads also same pants just doesn't have the squished knee pad and a little bit cheaper but the fit of the pants i'm gonna talk about the fit now and um what i like about the fit also so when it comes to the fit of the pants i've got a whole pile of pants here and i've never had uh pants painter pants out of the package fit like these pants and they're what i call a slim like athletic style fits and they're nice and tight around the legs and they're not baggy all over the pants so they are a little bit tighter but i really like that professional look they add so um i don't like pants really baggy around my calves i don't like pants really baggy around my shoes either i like a nice slim tight fit down there so i think the fit of the pants is absolutely amazing hands down best fitting pants i've ever worn i have multiple pairs this is another pair right here these are actually even older and so there's um maybe on these pants one uh my five in one tool i caught it on here got a hole right there that's the only damage to these pants but these things maybe a year and a half or more and the cuffs are still in great shape on these things no wrinkles on these pants man they're just absolutely amazing so these are three pairs of thrive workwear pants they also have multiple colors so when i'm doing decorative finishes i actually like wearing their gray pants now these are a different fit a different style than the painters pants but they're more like a carpenter style painter pants but um same thing these actually have squished knee pads in them so i use these things when i do decorative coatings because most of the decorative coatings i do are not whites or whites most of them are dark colors so if i get any type of decorative coating on it they don't show up the features i'm not a big fan of having tons and tons of features on pants i have a tool bag if you want to see that video you can watch my video what's in my tool bag and you can see all the tools i like keeping my tools in a tool bag but they do have um two pockets on the right so you got five in one lin bite scraper is what i keep in that pocket you got a pocket on the left side the other thing is i really like the big pockets that they have up front they've got kind of large oversized pocket it does have like um i guess you would call regular pants at a coin pocket that's but i can fit my whole hand in that pocket so i think they've made just really good use of the pockets the bad back pockets are pretty big and they're well built so there's some of the features on the pants right there they're double gusseted pants right here and the material is like a stretch material so even though the pants are fitted they do stretch and that's one of the great features about them so i'd rather have a tighter fitting pant that actually stretches a little bit now i'm going to get on i've got a whole bunch of other pants so we're going to go through some other pants now i got another pair they recently got sent to me from australia and this company is a company named bad and when i put them on i finally found another pair of pants that's actually pretty cool that you might want to try so here's another pair of pants and this is another pair of pants i actually would recommend and and one of the things i like about this pants is i do i'm very traditional i like wearing a white painters pants so i look like a painter i do wear colored shirts i'm kind of just to set myself apart i don't wear all white and a lot of the colors we use nowadays aren't whites and that's why painters used to wear whites you know in the past because most paints were whites but i wear colored shirts now but i i'm a big fan of having these colored highlights on these pants this is a pair of pants from australia i was just recently sent and they're from a company named bad and these actually are pretty bad in a good way bad really bad i won't say the other word but they're pretty cool and they're a slim fitting pant that is very similar fitting to the thrive workwear pants i think they have a nice slim fit and will give you a look at what they look like here you know shortly on me if you even care but they're slim fitting pants these have a lot more features on them and i'm not a fan of all these features i don't need them because once again i just keep a couple tools in my pocket keep my wallet in my pocket my cell phone in my pocket and the rest of the stuff goes in my tool bag but they do have colored knees and they have a feature where you can actually put a knee pad up inside here so the velcro comes open and there's multiple pants out there that have this option where you undo the velcro you can slip in a knee pad inside there um features highlighted features on the back highlighted features on the belt loops these pants are a little bit thinner than the thrive workwear pants i don't think they would last as long and if you're sitting on roofs sliding on roofs you have a tendency to work through the material but the material is to me it feels like a high quality material and i'm not a material expert i don't i don't claim to be i don't know a lot about that but we've got triple stitching all the way around these pants they look like they're extremely well built i'm not a fan of the pockets that are the side pockets like this i like the ones that come straight across like thrive work wear the pant pockets are straight across up front less likely to have stuff fall out of my pockets but they do if you like your features they've got your snap open pockets here they got other pockets on the side there's a lot of little pockets um pocket inside here so if you're the type of guy that doesn't carry a tool bag and needs multiple pockets it's got a hammer pocket they're all right there it's got them on both sides so it's a heavily pocketed pants um very large pockets up front the thrive work where it has um a pocket in a pocket in the front so you can keep your cell phone like here's the front pocket so it's got a front pocket up there if you want to keep your cell phone in the front pocket but i absolutely love the fit of the pants i really really like the material the feel of the material i'm kind of you know just particular and you call me a wimp whatever i just like um to feel you know comfortable in my pants it's a very comfortable material now i haven't i've worn them a few times they've only been washed a few times but like these came out of the wash they're right out of the wash no kinked up cuffs on the bottom i don't feel like i need to iron these pants once again one of my major pet peeves but i absolutely love the gray highlights on these things their t-shirts are absolutely super cool super rad i've got their belt absolutely amazing belt i'll show you it's right here a bad belt and this belt is an elastic belt and it's the best belt that i've ever worn for painting it's extremely comfortable and it came with the pants so if you want a a really cool belt it's bad so i don't know a lot about the company i just know they're in australia and actually don't know that i'm pretty sure they are but i'll give you that information you know in this video so if you want two pair of pants one highly highly recommended that's going to last you a long time and i know the price is way out there they're going to be somewhere around 70 for a pair of pants but they're going to last you three to four times longer than one of these other pair of pants i'm going to show you and um and you're just going to be a lot happier you're going to look a lot more professional and i think that's extremely important so great option bad thrive i do have a discount code that's nobody's paid me to say anything about this i mean i don't know these thrive people i've got their pants i contacted them specifically for this video and i keep getting a lot of people asking me said hey would you give my viewers a discount code you know so they can get a discount on your pants because they are pretty expensive and i believe i'll leave a link to the discount code i believe it's paintlife15 for a 15 off discount so that's going to make them a little bit more affordable so now i'm going to get on to some that were decent pants and then some really bad pants so here's a pair of pants that prior to thrive pants prior to um bad pants um and these were by a company and i really don't think they're actually making pants anymore and i covered their logo up well i think so i put i used to sew my logo on the pockets of my pants all the time there it is so atlas atlas um 46 right here they make i think like tool bags and stuff like that and they started making painter pants and i started wearing them and i liked them more than the other painter pants that i was wearing because the fit was a little bit better they weren't as baggy i didn't feel like i was walking around in a slouch and a bunch of baggy clothes they made some pretty durable features their hammer feature was extremely durable thick thick pockets it had triple pockets here for tools which was different than and on both sides so you can hold more more tools than my other pants but they were a thicker once again carhartt style material but they they did not stretch they lasted a whole long time but here again here's i'll show you there's what i really can't stand about inexpensive material in pants it gets these creases and kinks that do not come out once they crease and kink like that they stay like that forever and you can iron them you can iron it out so when i'm wearing them you know they don't look um just trashy on the bottom but they just re-kink every single time i'm not a material expert i don't know um how you stop that but i know i talked to the thrive the owner of thrive about that and they've created a material and pants they don't do that and to my amazement they don't do that so that's just one of those things i can't stand these pants are several years old multiple years probably two years three years old you can see i don't get a lot of paint on them they're still wearable but i don't wear them anymore and once again i don't think they make painter pants anymore last time i went and checked um like they said they weren't available on their website and um i i wouldn't recommend them anymore because i found pants that are actually better um so um you know that's up to you if you want to give these things a try give them a try if you like your bottom of your pants looking like that go right ahead and buy them and i'll leave like we'll look these things up on prices these were more expensive than the pants you'll find in most of your painters stores but um and a lot of people are really turned off by the price again i know a lot of people get turned off by the price of painter pants if they're any more than 20 but you know gets right back to your image what you look like in front of your customer and if you want to win more bids or not look professional let's go over here and now i'm going to get on to some pants that i have opinions about and we're going to save the worst for the last okay here's another pair of pants and i was sent these pants and i thought they were they were you know kind of cool when i was teaching my academy and stuff but i can't give you a whole lot of information or actually any information about these pants they were sent to me and they have no tags in them of who they are there's a tag inside of it with a size and saying you know how to clean them and that's 100 cotton but um to my amazement um let me see i'm pulling on this thing i don't know there is something in underneath its sown um it says uh now that's weird because i sky new wares um it's the sound underneath here but sky new wears i don't know if that's the the manufacturer of the pants but nobody said who they were when they sent them to me um one thing i don't like about them is they feel like parachute material extremely extremely thin so when i have them on i feel cheap and if i feel cheap i'm probably going to act cheap but you said warm you know a few times painted with them a few times i do like the dark gray i do like the black knees on it um it feels like a different type of material in there but if you're a decorator or something and you like these these are actually sewn in you can't remove them and i just i don't know that um i kind of didn't like um i wasn't it's just getting in my way and i don't use pockets like that i would think this is more um in the uk for decorators so if you do wallpaper and stuff like that you know those pants might fit for you it had flaps on the back too with velcro to get in them you have a big pocket on one side to hold a bunch of stuff you have multiple pockets on this side a little pocket with velcro you've got multiple loops to hang maybe like scissors and tools like that all kinds of decorative tools but these what i would say have an extremely baggy fit they're really baggy down on the bottom and really really loose fitting i guess if you worked in the heat if you lived in australia and um you know maybe that would be for you but this is a this is an interesting thing one of the pant companies in um dexter's told me this pair of pants i'll get to that pair of pants this may be true with these guys too is a lot of painters or decorators in australia and i think over in europe they told me that actually where they're painting their pants over regular pants hence why they're extremely baggy and loose i've never known or know anybody in the united states that does that and when i actually put the dexter's on over regular pants they actually had a good fit to them but now you're wearing two pairs of pants and it's really gonna get hot for you so here they are um it's good i'll try to figure out this tag um for the life of me i don't know sky new wares might be the company we'll leave it you know down in the comment section below i don't know how much they were cost because they just showed up in the mail but i wouldn't recommend wearing them so it's up to you you'll have the link maybe that's going to be for you with all those pockets and stuff all right here's uh getting to close to the last these are dexter pants now dexter pants has something unusual about them and they're made out of rip stop material these pants aren't cheap either these are pretty expensive but rip stop…
