What happens here
This project details the demolition and removal of an old swimming pool, transforming the area into a ready-for-landscaping backyard. It involves heavy machinery like skid steers with grapple and breaker attachments to break up concrete, remove debris, and carefully backfill the excavation. The process highlights challenges like navigating narrow access, dealing with hidden concrete footings, and ensuring proper grading for future drainage.

(6,816 characters)alright guys today we're gonna be demolishing and removing a swimming pool and getting it ready for a brand new backyard but this swimming pools got a little surprise in store for us I'm gonna see that in just a little bit so you guys probably noticed that the tires on this machine are solid rubber they're not air filled and you would think that they would do great on a demolition job like this but in fact the opposite is true because there's no air in them there's no give meaning that they really don't grab on to the dirt instead they just bite right through it and it actually ends up giving you less traction now he's got to go pretty slow as he goes down the slight incline because that top piece of concrete is just balanced there he's only biting on the bottom piece of concrete he's got to take his time right here because at that time he slides off it'll smash into the side of the truck and just cause lots of damage so he's going to go slow and steady in this one [Music] and he Sam don't go near that machine [Music] he was just trying to turn it and all the controls locked up so that chin is actually connected into a long pudding underneath there it breaks they're free then she should also does not have the control with this machine but he has with the other ones just doesn't have the same finesse this shoe means he's gonna put his Forks in and see if he can feel the footings but he got most of them off without peace he's in something down there he's definitely hit something down there yeah [Music] yeah it really is they got something big down back behind all of that ground you can see cuz you can see though all the brown [Music] oh dude there's something big down there yeah there's something big down there this is a new one this part isn't new this concrete swimming or this swimming pool has supports that go down and behind the sidewalls and on the very far side of those supports they've installed the footing as well you see Tim getting at it right now just just like it's angry yeah now you know what you got to look for Sam so while we're gone that's what you got to go out and dig up and fine lotta guys are hesitating about that single boom I'm designed here's the thing with it if that ever snaps why you own it glugging is you the original owner of the machine a lifetime warranty they will replace it if you own that machine for 10,000 hours you bought it out of the gate they will replace that boom arm it's the same design that are on excavators and the same whoa doll tell it lifts telehandlers so if you're not afraid of a single arm designed on an excavator what do you care here you're not afraid of a single arm design on a telehandler why would this be a concern now I get it and especially with a lifetime or two that's why we bought it the bad thing ever snaps I mean we're gonna beat them brick out of that thing I hope that thing snaps I'll take a brand new one if I have that machine for five thousand hours and I snap that boom arm there low above all give me a brand new boom arm that's a fifteen twenty thousand dollar part lifetime warranty they back their stuff up even when they see me doing crap like this with it I don't care it's a demo machine came out fitted like that he's got demo tires it's got a bar on the back it's got a hockey mask on the front protection on the top oh well this is looks like fun entrance how are you guys clearing that tree oh man marking the front yard I don't know how they thought we were gonna get the dirt back here or the stuff out so he's gonna try to grab that stack down there that stack he's gonna grab that stand the smell here guys this was lucky nasty water comes up to about here the icings feet were dry as a bone okay hail it awesome really great you know you don't get to say that very often yeah I love mine too [Music] is definitely pushing it isn't he [Music] so we're gonna end up splitting this load down so that we can safely carry it through the narrow opening and get it up and into the dump truck so this machine has a lot of benefits but it has its quirks too one of the quirks that you're gonna hear me talk to Tim about in just a minute is getting the hydraulic attachment to actually hook up and work to properly tell you what I'm talking about 17 times I wish they would yeah it does that yeah yeah I would like to see him put like names of stuff on there now hieroglyph symbols like we're all universe everything in the back matches this it's on everything out is a little cylinder like must be the universal hydraulic oil symbol or something but all you do it put hydraulic oil who do you know that that's and then put the symbol on for the universal people but they're shipping it to the United States or antifreeze or oil just to say instead of these weird little what am I looking at here sure kind of look at where the poses are going to be like okay so I hit the hydraulic button a bunch of times is that does that do that you got it switches hit it multiple times setting you know you got to hit it certain time okay it's got a mascot this until it works [Music] all right let's go [Music] all right guys take your best guess in the comments down below what you think he's doing at this stage of the project then in a few moments I'm going to answer you and tell you exactly what he's doing [Music] so he's pretty carefully separating this dirt why do you think he's doing that so when we're demolishing and removing a swimming pool we divide the scope of the work into different segments there's the demolition and the removal part which you've seen today and then there's the fill soil in the structural zone that is where we fill it up using a very select type of material that's compatible that won't settle out but as we get closer to the top we've set it in other videos we like to incorporate more organic material into the top layer sometimes that organic material can come from on-site now when they install a swimming pool initially they always keep the grade higher than the surrounding grades that means that we've got to extend out into the yard to lower everything down to make sure that all of the water flows the right way and we don't end up with a swimming pool again as we get closer to the top we'll go into the yard and start stripping off any organic material we can and then carefully placing that in the upper zone of the where the swimming pool used to be when it's all said and done then we'll bring in a load of pulverized screened black dirt spread and grade that over the surface and then prep that for seed or sod whatever the customer likes I hope you like today's video we still have a little bit work left to do on this jobsite if you want more videos like this just tell me more jobsite videos and I'll make them for you god bless you guys go get up
