What happens here

After each layer of aggregate stone is placed, a worker uses a plate compactor to densify the material. Systematically guide the plate compactor back and forth over the entire surface of the newly laid stone. Multiple passes are often required to achieve optimal compaction, ensuring the aggregate interlocks and creates a stable, solid base. This process is critical for preventing future settling of the backfill and providing adequate support for the retaining wall.

Goal: Achieve maximum density and stability of the backfill material.
