What happens here
This project details the process of swapping continuous rubber tracks on a Kubota SVL 97-2 skid steer loader from dirt tracks to snow tracks. It covers the crucial steps of safely lifting the heavy machine, troubleshooting a common issue with stubborn track tension release bolts, carefully removing and installing the heavy tracks, and finally tensioning them using a grease gun. The project emphasizes safety due to the weight of the equipment and the tracks themselves.

(7,622 characters)tracks are expensive so every year we switch from Winter tracks to Summer tracks and back again it just doesn't make any sense to me to keep dirt tracks on all winter long wearing them out on hard asphalt when we know we're going to be plowing but it also doesn't make any sense to me to keep allseason tracks on during the summer when you're doing demolition work and you're putting big gouges and tears in it so for us we've got it down to a science where we can swap tracks pretty fast and easy all right so today we swap out what the Kabota big kotas tracks for the snow the nice snow tracks so that way we get grip on snow instead of trying to use those dirt tracks so Kabota has what they call a new H bar track system and it's their attempt at creating an allseason track and it's basically a failure it still just borrows the same technology from the dirt dirt track thing with an extra little wave in it it's not a true allseason track and there's no sense in wearing down your good dirt tracks when you don't need to so I opted to buy a new set of tracks and these are the brand is called TNT and the manufacturing company is mwe and the reason I went with these very specifically is because supposedly it reduces vibration inside of the cabin if you know anything about kotas they'll knock your teeth up they'll vibrate the teeth right out of your head they Shake Rattle and Roll so bad and if this track can reduce some of that vibration then we're In Like Flint and then they just keep recirculating the CL through there for like an hour or so oh yeah and then and then they flush it Alex has swapping tracks down to a science in fact on the cat skid loader which is now actually sold he could swap them tracks out in 15 minutes per side by himself with no issues with this new Kabota svl 97-2 the biggest challenge is this is a fit big fat heavy machine we're talking about a loader that comes in close to 12,000 or more pounds so this is our biggest heaviest loader and we got to get it up off from the ground so let's see how that goes kot get so heavy the other kot can't lift it SOA to try come some ideas try get time to do some sketchy stuff sketchy stuff sketchy stuff time to do some sketchy stuff if you haven't done sketchy stuff then you're not in construction but still there's times when we even got to reel our guys in it's like come on man don't do that don't do this do that you'll hear you'll hear Alex yelling at Zach about that in up hey don't get under the W what's that bag for well we got it figured out that bag that he's got shoved that plastic bag he's got shoved into that track hole is actually used to collect all of the grease because these tracks are actually expanded and fit in place tightened up with grease and so there's a bolt under there when you release that bolt all of the grease can come sometimes it comes shooting out like a rocket and you're going to hear Alex yelling at Zach to get the heck out of the way and other times it just kind of squirts out like right so the the bag collects all of the grease and keeps our work site pretty clean but Zach's better watch out what happens now that's Mr musle thinks he can do it like 3/4 turn bud until that once once you see that grease start coming out of there once you stand off to the side so that way if it blast off of there you're not right in the way of it let me get out of the way first I want to get shot with that that would hurt out for a mon East here all your hobes get this one from Ecuador don't GRE yet coming out of that see cuz some of them you take them all the way out and others you just take them yeah cat you just do it like a full one full turn I honestly think this one you have to take all the way out because I remember I just cracked it like that last time and then I rolled the the pad through there and all it did was just get it super tight because the grease wasn't coming out of there so I'm pretty sure you got to take it all the way out but just be careful that I think goinging it out of there yeah how much is coming out now a lot quite a bit why don't we just pull it all the way out I think or let's try it I guess go that pad there you can do it from the bottom but I've always done it from the top as she's sucking it through grease coming out oh yeah there's quite a bit of Grease coming out let me know when I'm halfway through uh mat right there now yeah that's plastic bag method been the pretty best oh yeah instead then you got to scoop it out of there and all that other stuff let me grab this pallet and move it off to the so this is a real good shot you can see that H bar track system it's not bad it's it's not the worst but in a moment I'm going to show you the winter tracks and you can see definitely the change in the pattern his house probably here probably here so not all tracks are created equal we've learned the hard way and this is a new set to us but it checked off all of the boxes plus when they told us it had the antivibration that's what really sold us on it yes it is continuous ly steel wound and it's a little bit heavier Duty than normal but if I was thinking if this upcoming season turned out to be anything like last year somebody's going to be sitting in that cabota for a very long time and I wanted a very good set of tracks for them all do we got a knife or a cutter cuz all mine's in my smashed up car yeah parking brake failed this morning and crashed right into a tra sometimes tracks have a direction a very specific direction that they recommend you put them on and you're going to hear Tim coming in here in a little bit and saying oh did you put him on in the right direction and he's basically just giving the guys a little bit of crap because on this set of tracks we didn't have to worry about that but sometimes it's an easy mess [Music] perfect push right here oh you got to come back a little more now you got to come back a little bit you need it in the middle hold on I'm going to step over yeah you got to pull it back a little bit it's it's you pushed it too far past that Cog do this first it needs to pop in back you got to raise that a little bit yeah you want to kneel this uh roll that bucket down a little bit please yeah it must have settled a little bit well yeah when she settled off that lock yeah yeah curl it down yep that's perfect yeah you want to get it down hey watch that one use your right side come right here and kind of down at an angle yeah that's what I was thinking yep there you go good now get the top oh those are backwards you got to notice that the arrows on there Square are the arrows Direction what backwards at least now I know that I think there's a outet behind that light P get uh some magnet flashers though that we can stick on the end of The Pusher why so that way when we go down the road with that giant Pusher that okay yeah you can get them at Menard I don't know how much they are just a battery powered one yeah just a little battery powered it magnetizes just just something so that way people see the end of the damn plow that way we're not running the risk of [Music] some all right for everyone who was wondering what was going on in the video earlier when we were all chitchatting about my my car getting broken and whatnot it's like yeah that's what happened got it parked right here there parking brake failed and rolled smooth into the goose neck least the windows a lot cheaper than replacing the front end headlights and all that other stuff but still sucks that I'm out that much thanks for tuning in and we'll see you on another one God bless and go get them guys
