Two man job with just one guy? No problem! 🙋🏼‍♂️ #deck #framing #outdoorliving #outdoordesign

What happens here

With the stringer prepared, carefully position it in place. Align the top of the stringer with the appropriate section of the deck frame (typically a rim joist or blocking) and ensure the bottom support block rests on the ground-level ledger board or foundation. Use the cordless impact driver to drive several exterior-grade wood screws through the top of the stringer into the deck frame. Then, secure the bottom support block to the ground-level ledger board, driving screws through the block into the ledger. Ensure the stringer is plumb and level before final tightening.

Goal: Securely attach the first stringer to the deck and ground

  • Ground-Level Ledger Board — A board at ground level that provides a secure attachment point for the bottom of the stringers
  • Prepared Stair Stringer — The primary structural component being installed
  • Exterior-Grade Wood Screws — Attaching the stringer to the deck frame and ledger board
