Toro's BIGGEST stand on mower

it's cutting this with no issues smells like I'm at Jamba Juice oh okay all right I'm stuck [Music] so this is some juicy stuff sometimes it's nice to be pleasantly [Music] surprised all right guys well welcome to Today's Show I've got a guest with me I've got Jared from Toro how are you sir I'm good how are you awesome thank you so today we're going to be looking at the Grand standand HDX this was just revealed last year is that right right yes fall of last year so this is its first full season going into it yep and this is your biggest baddest monster mower that you guys make for commercial applications like this right in the standon world absolutely so what did you do with this to make this standart from the competition from the rest of the herd so to speak so number one is you know I said it in our grandstand HDM the little mini video we took design aspects from a regular grand stand lineup that we've had for a number of years out on the market and we've taken some of the feedback from that about what people really like and we put it in just a giant machine 72-in deck it's number one you got a big deck on this machine number two a big frame right when you're driving this thing and you you've been on it before it is a very large comfortable machine high quality cut on your turbo for a stack you know these things can take a beating they got a very long warranty to back that up our flip up operator the the the hood here so you know you can get in Access change your belts if you need to get to your battery um you can also carry things on if you think about spring cleanup or fall cleanup I mean put a trash can on it throw sticks in it do what you need to do tell me about this magic button J so so I'll give it a go I hope I can do it justice here but really when you look at the electronic thr control what that does is it gives you options right you can you have three modes so one if you're just going to transport it very slowly put it in Turtle mode right so that's slow you don't have a lot of speed there the other one I'll talk about is your your your fast speed or your rabbit so then you're you're going Full Throttle all the time think about on your regular machines you hop on it crank the throttle at 100% that's what this is now where the real benefit is here is you can put it into eco mode so when you have it in eco mode what that does is that adjusts the engine RPMs and and the power output to your conditions so if you're let's say in the middle of summer little lawn's a little brown kind of sparse you don't you don't need all that power right you can go along pretty good clip pretty good speed get a good quality of cut at a at a at a lower RPM whereas if you get down into some heavier stuff like let's say you start to get into The Cattails then you're going to need that to ramp up and go into Full Throttle so this takes that away from you to where it does it itself and what that does that saves you a ton on gas and then you also think about you know the sounds on the operator's ears or the vibration on the handles from when you're at Full Throttle versus let's say 2/3 so it's easier on the operator at the same time yeah so he did it he nailed it so really what I thought was was good was it senses the load is the way it was described to me it senses the load that the the blades are under and will automatically adjust the engine RPM to maximize your cut without over adjusting it or under adjusting it it just gets it right to where it's got to be and if the load is gone then it backs off when the load is there it's I it revs it up for you you're not doing anything it just it's it's the magic button yeah of mowers and that honestly when when when I first started a toy around with this machine and the electronic throttle control I was a little apprehensive cuz I thought okay you're let's see you're going along 6 7 m hour and then you go from light into heavy grass mhm and I didn't think it would be able to adjust in time but it actually does a very good job of keeping up with that change in conditions okay and now we have engine options but it depends on that deck size so we have four models we have a 52 and a 60 y with a 31 horsepower fx921 Kawasaki engine okay then we have a 60 and a 72 with 37 horsepower Vanguard EFI with oil guard so the oil guard is something I got to point out too yeah because you think about that 500 hour oil changes m so you know our goal is to make the machines extremely durable high quality of cut but also easy to service and maintain complete your estimates so you're not guessing ex exactly so what is it telling me over here yep so you're able to set whether it's a service a material um you're able to set if that's a flat rate or if you're charging that per hour per manh hour per equipment hour usage um or how much of anything that you're using it's going to do all that math for you and automatically give you that bid um and compare it to what you need so if you charge x amount for square footage you want to make sure that you're given a good bid on what it's also going cost you in terms of how many people it's going to take and how long it's going to take and what you usually charge to to to do that job as well too so it'll map out your estimate for you so this will kind of help you guys dial in y their numbers talking about I mean he only had like 20 minutes to get ready so imagine if I didn't have 20 how bad this would be I know 71 928 all right we'll get there and one thing too that I want to point out is the deck yeah so this is our this is our Turbo Force 2 deck that we have on on our zmaster 4000 or zmaster 2000 the underside of the deck is still the regular Turbo Force deck so your cut quality is the same so what you did with a Turbo Force 2 was you reinforc things like the where the the framing is where the Caster wheels go in right yeah and then we you know we we extended this bullnose up quite a bit too mhm so it is it is more aggressive on the exterior mhm but the interior is still like like I said that good high quality cut and we're talking about a spring assisted lift deck so we have a spring here so if you're if you don't feel like lifting you just got to adjust the spring up so little things that these Toro guys did to make these mowers a little bit more easy for the operator we've got a clear seethrough fuel tank so and and a big one to boot on top of that um the standard Toro controls up here got access to your hydros right here your oil but this is the tried and true Toral laid out layout that we've all familiar with with the grand stands if you aren't your operator presence is in the handles I like that a lot so you push the handles down Boom the machine senses you're good to go and then you're operating they've got a great forward and reverse so you got a hand grip here hand grip here and you would think that that's not a big thing but it is a big thing because it's not on every machine and when you don't don't have the things that you like that's when you start to appreciate it on other pieces of equipment and have you had enough time to look up a price yet jar I did so the 52in on Elite fleet's going to be just to shade over $112,000 okay this the 72 on Elite fleet's going to be a little it's like uh what else do we need to know did you do anything like oversize the tires did you do anything else that we should understand or know about with this thing Jared yeah so the so the tires are much larger than a regular grand stand you go up to 24in drive tires on this and you know they're 12 in wide um something that we also changed is is the knee pad you know it's still very comfortable very durable production start on these in in Fall of 23 so now we've got a number of them that are out in the field and quite honestly people would have been very happy we we're having a hard time keeping up with the production on this one um because they're very well received so overall it's a very very good machine deck height adjustment is simple straightforward laid out they've got little things like a a heater guard over your exhaust you know you also have the baffle control here too so in in wet conditions you can adjust your baffle wet versus dry you know whatever you're trying to do bagging um there's different settings here that you can use based on your condition so it gives you a little more control we have this on our standard grand grand stand platform also all right Jared well thank you hey my pleasure appreciate you com out Jared came right from Toro to give us this information so it's not a third party salesperson we're hearing this from this is one of the guys that worked with the development team to create this thing for these guys absolutely all right boys it's time to put our money where our mouth is it's time to go out and test that mower except it's raining if you look at my deck it's not not a lot of rain but it's enough rain that that grass is going to be wet and if you look closely on the top of the pond you can see it's currently sprinkling out and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better man I'll tell you straight up you guys if we had gotten as much snow as we have gotten rain this year I'd be rolling in the dome this thing is awesome holy crap this is like flying a [Music] spaceship my gosh this machine is so [Music] massive I'm going to mow my lawn in like 3 minutes [Music] this thing is like sailing a ship she just [Music] move now you guys are right down there and sniffers roll so you're right where all the action is kind of feels like I'm flying the space shuttle here but I want to do this section just to see what the uh Chun quality is like on this okay I just revved it up and put it in the high mode right now it's in that mode where it senses how much power you need we'll take her in this nasty stuff here let's turn the around and hit big stuff look at what we're kicking out here guys and it's just got rained on so this is some juicy stuff and I'm not hearing this mower bug down at all so far have you guys heard that as I'm looking at this look at this that's that's like I'm making hay right here she's just wow that is pretty incredible you know it's cutting tall grass is one thing but when you cut this thick heavy wet hayik material this is this is see if I leave that that's going to kill that grass I mean that's how heavy and thick this is I'm going to have to mold this a couple oh gosh couple five times to get that under control like I'll leave that there that's that's going to be you can hear you can hear squishing look at the cut quality right here there's not a skip there's I mean and the power it's just UNF freaking real and my main concern with a mower this big is weight right but look it look it I mean I didn't go right where I stepped but I just stepped right there and squished up to my foot and I mowed right next to it sideways I slide wassed that thing phenomenal and look at there's just the scalping it doesn't exist here's where I turned this is also ruts from removing all these trees the cut quality is I know what you guys really want to care about it's fun to watch it make super Tall Grass short and this does that but here's a great example of just how nice she cuts and that's on a single cut a single pass all all right let's show you what we've been cutting now this this is thick stuff in and of itself but we cut over ourselves going all the way down but look at look at how wet this is look at this that's not like it's a foot lower it's right there it's cutting this with no issue juice smells like I'm at Jamba Juice so I ended up mowing this part of the lawn about five times for one reason I wanted to see how much damage that big mower would do to a wet lawn now this has been single mode you can see pretty much what we're dealing with here single mode and then right there's the tripod right here is where I just kept going over and over and over again so let's take a look at what a 72in deck does on a pretty uneven lawn I'm not seeing scuff marks look at the cut quality of this thing I didn't bag This Grass up I didn't blow it into the swamp I didn't try to blow it to there this cut quality is just that I should say to that without doing anything more than just going over and over and over it again on that thing and the significance is it didn't destroy the lawn by going over it and over and over it even right after it rained all right guys um I really hesitate to give you my opinion on on equipment I like to run it show it let you form your own opinion uh just demonstrate what it can and can't do but sometimes if something is good or bad to the point where I've got to speak up I just do it I don't I don't really care anymore um when I first seen this thing I expected it to be powerful not as powerful as what I I just seen it do though I expected it to be heavy and a tank and to be limited and in fact I had to wait for 3 weeks while this lawn grew up because Frankie cut that entire area with this mower because both him and I assumed that this big torel would sink and I fully went into this thing expecting it to sink and I've never seen a mower that big float so well and that is the Toro grand stand HDX 72 in for cut quality outstanding power outstanding maneuverability and control in in and out of bushes trees swamps outstanding if I was going to pick on it I guess the only thing I would say is I would like more control than power Eco and turtle cuz that's what my
