Prepare and Seat the Nail

Throwback! We need some new challenges out there... Why did this trend end?!
What happens here
Before fully driving the nail, it is crucial to properly position and secure it with an initial, light tap. Hold the nail firmly between your thumb and forefinger, resting its tip on the desired location on the piece of traditional lumber. With a gentle, controlled tap from the hammer, just enough to embed the nail's tip into the wood, you "seat" the nail. This initial seating prevents the nail from wobbling and allows you to safely remove your fingers, setting the nail straight for the subsequent, more powerful strikes. In wood framing, this step ensures nails are accurately placed to maintain structural integrity and proper alignment of framing members like studs, top plates, or sole plates.
Goal: This step demonstrates the initial positioning of a common nail on a piece of traditional lumber and securing it with a light tap, preparing it for full driving.
