This beam was too heavy for us to lift, so we had to make some accommodations!
What happens here
Once the beam is accurately aligned and gently lowered onto its permanent support locations—such as saddle hangers, notched posts, or ledger boards—the lifting straps are detached from the beam, and the chain hoist can be carefully lowered. The beam is now fully installed and can be permanently fastened to the existing structure. This marks the successful completion of the heavy lifting and placement phase of the deck construction.
Goal: Permanently seat the beam and prepare to remove lifting equipment.
