What happens here

The owner recounts a frustrating experience with the very first Airbnb customer who attempted a check fraud scam. The customer booked for a month (March 15 - April 15) during the 'worst time of the year' and sent a cashier's check for $26,000 instead of the $15,000 rental fee, requesting a refund for the overpayment. The owner explains that cashier's checks can be canceled, rendering this a common scam. He emphasizes the importance of vigilance against such fraudulent activities.

weirder that a lot of people could get hurt and that's why I'm telling you this story it's a cash years check so a cash years check can be cancelled at any time he says in his text message in his email correspondence to us that he mistakenly overpaid and the rest of the money was supposed to go to his trip advisor he's paying n Grand or 10 grand or 11 Grand to a Trip Advisor whatever that was and can we send him the difference in a refund absolutely freaking not we can't send you the difference in a refund don't ever trust a cash years check please if you guys ever get a cash years check that's a red flag because of the ability to cancel it so really what this guy was trying to do he paid us then we were supposed to mail him a valid check he would deposit it that would go in before his date coming up March 15th and then he would cancel the cashier check so he would make I don't know 9 10 11 Grand off from us and then he would disappear that's what I think was going to happen with this guy so to offset it we said nah we voided the check sent him a picture of the voided check and send us send the right amount so that our records correspond and match up that was an excuse for us to not do what he wanted to do and guess what we never heard from this guy again but that's not the hardest part about what's been going on recently up north before any of this happened we had the furnace go out in the upper cabin so we've got a cabin up up Top Cabin down below and although they're separate units they're connected by one waterline so this cabin the furnace went out up top and then the plumbing froze so my toilet shattered my faucets shattered the furnace just kicked out for no reason just gone done so I had to replace that furnace which is you know I mean that's a $14,000 bill in and of itself fixing the furnace and air conditioner but when this cabin froze the water line that connects it to this lower cabin Froze all the way down then it froze underground and then it froze all the way to the lower cabin so the lower cabin was fine but now we don't have water and it's buried underground so we have to do a retro system to get it to be repaired so we've got the line thaw but now we've got to put something in place that will protect it from ever happening again and I'm not digging this thing up and wrapping it with heat tape because that's really what should be done the line itself is insulated everything is insulated it's just the fact that the frost started when this…
