The Toilet Test Every Plumber Uses

What happens here

Once the auger is inserted and encounters the clog, begin rotating the handle in a clockwise motion. This rotation allows the coiled tip of the metal snake to bore into the obstruction, break it apart, or entangle it. Continue cranking and gently pushing the auger further into the drain as the clog begins to yield. If the auger gets hung up, gently pull back slightly and re-engage with the clockwise rotation. After you feel the clog has been dislodged or caught, pull the entire auger straight out of the toilet bowl. It's crucial not to unwind the auger while pulling it out, as this can cause the retrieved material to detach and fall back into the drain. The aim is to extract any material that has been grabbed by the auger's tip.

Goal: Crank the auger in a clockwise motion to engage the clog, then pull the auger straight out to remove any caught debris.
