(19,687 characters)good for you if you're hauling rocks and crap with your trailer it means you're a real man and you're not afraid to get your fingernails dirty and clean that out either so there you go right on yeah that's just and it's got a great grip on [Music] it all right guys I'm at the Harbor Freight booth at SEMA and we're going to talk to the top dogs and we are going to learn some secrets about Harbor Freight that have never been re revealed before went Alan how you doing Alan how are you and I'm with Will and one of the things that people don't know about Harbor Freight is you guys employ hundreds of engineers in the United States building your own tool is that right correct okay so tell me about that what you Le so a lot of people think that we uh you know we'll hand a competitor's tool to some to a factory and say go make this for us right um that's so you don't grab a Milwaukee a DeWalt you don't go hey go duplicate this you start from the ground up yes is that right it's exactly right we take the specs and features that we want for a tool okay we look at what's out in the marketplace and we say how do we do this product in the best way possible with the best features and bring it at a compelling value to the customer which it for us that's our unique Advantage I think people think that when we have something at a lower price point that it must be bad quality we just are able to get rid of entire steps of distribution we go straight from Factory and put it in our stores and put it on the shelf so we just launched at SEMA U an icon knife and people are seeing just by the price point they're already claiming it must be junk they've never it's not even in storage yet no one's got their hands on it and already they because it's $40 and we're comparing it to 100 plus dollar knife the immediate response is it's junk we could sell it for twice the price we could sell it for three times the price and you know but that's not how we are we try to get all of our tools at the best prices and the best value so balancing that quality and value is really important for us and Alan what do you do for Harbor Freight I'm at marketing okay and will what do you do for Harbor fre I'm an engineering quality assurance okay and we are going to I promise you new tools we're going to look at can we go look at that knife do you have that knife absolutely we're going to look at all the cool stuff from Harbor Freight but I'm also going to be sharing some stuff that I learned from you guys behind the scenes with you guys so we're going to do it all today and it's going to be all exclusively Harbor Freight so let's get this show started right now all right guys here is the $40 knife now this is an interesting story you guys have actually been developing this for years before it came to Market we had a few different designs that didn't quite meet our standards for the icon name and icon brand and the quality level that that stands for so this is actually going to be coming out in uh December starting to hit stores slowly mid November has a G10 handle a carbon fiber inlay it's a D2 steel blade has ceramic ball bearings on the pivot God that is very smce and smooth yeah that's just and it's got a great grip on it so years so you don't you don't just come out with something decide that you want to do it and roll with it you you put some time and energy and effort into these things exactly and really the the effort that we put into different products uh depends on what brand it's in so for example in power tools our Warrior brand has to pass you know a certain level of quality tests and then a bow brand has to go like four times what the warrior life cycle testing is and then you go to Hercules and it's like 10x what that is so those aren't specific numbers but the amount of testing that goes into each different quality level okay behind the scenes you were telling me about your jack and let's go over to the Jack right now let's go see this Jack because you were tell me the story that about this Jack we launched this Offroad Jack uh last year at SEMA and it's been a tremendous seller for us um there's a lot of development that we put into it um so there's a lot of engineering that we put into this to make sure it's the it's a safe Jack right now you said your Jack pass yeah asme American Society of mechanical engineers it's the portable automotive safety equipment Pas so there's standards that that they put out and say all lifting equipment must meet these specific standards and it's like it's a there's got to be a hydraulic bypass over a certain amount so it won't let you lift over what the grated capacity is of the Jack if there's standards about how long it has to hold the load there standards about putting uh putting your your weight a certain amount off of the the the saddle to make sure it won't tip over if you're misusing it so this is the only off-road Jack I know of that passes all of those requirements so the the people your detractors and haters that are saying this is a knock off of somebody else what you're saying is this is a design that passes all those standards the people we knocked off from which you didn't allegedly knocked off from don't pass those same standards but we do that's a difference safy is very very important to us we will not compromise on and you came out with this one last year yes okay now you have a brand new trailer y with over 20 unique absolutely I'd like to introduce you to Troy he's the engineer behind the trailer he can tell you a little bit about it okay let's do that all right guys uh this is Troy how are you Troy good how are you good left handed Shake I'm holding my camera my good one that's right um You are the engineer that created this trailer correct and now you've got over nine patents on this I misspoke earlier when I was talking with a lot and I said 20 but you got over nine unique Pat great okay so walk me through what are we looking at about this trailer TR so here's the deal with this trailer we knew that our customer base was buying our existing trailer and they were customizing it so if you can weld cut Grill paint cool but there's a lot of our customers that don't have that capability or the to to do it so we designed this trailer from the bottom up to be totally customizable with one 9/16 in wrench you can Bol anything on this thing you want to be so the secret is this dual rail system runs all the way around all four sides of the trailer every accessory that we're going to have so whether it's this accessory rail these tie downs you can simply put the nuts in the rail move it wherever you want tighten it down oh my God instant customization I have never seen a trailer like that uh and $9.99 does that mean it's a cheap piece of crap trailer no so for $9.99 you're getting a 5x10 trailer that has a 2,000 lb payload the comp that you would buy in a 5x10 is about $2,300 and it only holds 1300 lb so that rail system is designed in the other nice thing is all of the comps have to have this top rail for strength all of our strength is designed in this rail system you can take this off and get the full 2,000 lound okay does it come with this rail system it does not that's an addition okay so that's that's an option like for me personally I don't like having that upper rail system it means I can't get my payload inre the right way right you can use forklift to load on any side of the trailer take the rails off or you can just Bolt the rails back on after your car goes loaded and there's no no no compromising in strength with this thing whatsoever where did you compromise to get a $9.99 price point the axles crap or what's this no so we completely designed the axles ourselves as well it's a can of lever tube Axle just like what the big boys have comes standard with bearing buddies comes standard with 13-in radial tires not bias fly yeah those don't I was going to say are these lawnmower tractor tires not these are trailer industry standard 13-in radio tires five lug 4 and2 volt pattern [Music] yep all right tool box is that an option then duol box has the current Que in store today but it fits well or it fits right on the trailer because it's uh a 52° cupw angle so everything SS right up all right so for a Target price of 115 bucks you get two 2,000lb capacity aluminum ramps oh aluminum ramp you get a finger system here that holds the ramp in place while you're loading okay and something you don't see on this class of trailer from anybody else are these loading Jacks does two things for you takes the stress off the frame when you're loading but more importantly these trailers are normally towed by very light Vehicles if you load something back here you can actually pick the back end of the vehicle off the ground and move while you're loading so this totally prevents that right right right right right and most of my most of my audience knows trailers so I'm looking at the gate right here so as we look at this gate is this a standard option is this a different option so this comes with the top rail system for $199 you get the full railing all the way around with this F down tailgate oh wow okay so you can completely customize this to fit your needs when is it coming out though it's going to be in stores uh June July of next year okay so the trailer and the accessories and limited availability full availability full availability in that time frame oh okay okay okay and anything else we should know about this trailer um so the the other thing about trailers and my video thing about trailers that most people know is two things get damaged right fenders and lighting yeah so what we've done is we put polymer fenders on this trailer so they won't Dent they won't scratch most trailers in this class have steel fenders that'll weld it on so with our Fender if something ever would happen take four bolts out pull it off put a new one on put a new Fender on the other thing that gets damaged on trailers is lighting right cuz usually it's hanging out here y all of our lighting is all recessed and protected look at the stop turn Tails how they're yeah yeah look at that all right so I mean I see your side marker lights are exposed but that's just an LED dot but look at inside here everything is protected in here I mean I'm going to see rocks and crap getting in here but good for you if you're hauling rocks and crap with your trailer it means you're a real man and you're not afraid to get your fingernails dirty and clean that out either so there you go right on all right anything else trit I think we're good thank you all right no thank you sir all right guys guys I'm with Andrew what do you do for these guys Andrew I do prodct development for our off-road products okay so they wanted me to look at these road shop lights why these ones are all new the this Edge series we've launched uh much higher intensity than our current road stock lineup they got high low mode and Amber backlight they also come with uh amber covers and black opaque covers one they not in use or when you want to cut through that dust and snow I see you've used I mean this is a pretty heavy duty casing you put on there yes all cast aluminum okay uh heavy duty powder coat we test them for salt spray testing and the exposure are these new yes brand new they're going to be out in January why would we want to buy these over something we may have more familiarity with and a nameand that we're used to well we put these lights through the ringer really uh we do ip68 and ip69k testing okay so that means that these are not fully submergible but you can pretty much leave these out in a rain and they're going to be good oh absolutely well you can submerge them fully yes wait what yep but uh ip68 we do uh we get them up the temperature yeah we turn them off we put them into a meter of water you know at room temperature so lights are hot they're going to try and suck that water in and then after they're underwater for an hour we pull them out make sure there's no water in all right that's uh and and they're what what's the price 129 bucks of a pop on them yep yeah that's the Le all right they also have a waterproof DCH connector on the back a four pin um all the circuit Tre inside is topnotch perfect all right that's the lights now you mentioned something you're testing I'm going to talk to one of your engineers and learn a little bit more about your quality testing right now so let's do that now and then we're going to go find some more cool products all right so we were just talking to one of the guys and he was talking about they dunk these lights they get them up to the heat then they put them underw for an hour they try to get the light to suck all the moisture and and what it told me was you guys have your own independent testing that you do can you just talk me this is Will he's one of the the main Engineers here to build some of the products right yep what do you guys do for to make sure that you're putting good stuff out there well so we've got several testing Labs based in the US where we've got full teams that test all of our products so we've got groups of guys that used to be mechanics used to be autoc you know Automotive guys guys that were construction workers people that actually know tools looking at these things and making sure that they're you know up to our quality standards we've also got Engineers that write full test methods for every single one of our products and we go through that list every day to test our new products through that cycle they don't meet our quality standards we send them back we revise the design with our engineers and then we get new samples back okay so it's not just a bunch of guys wearing welding coats like I'm doing going you're giving them a free product woohoo let's go put this through the ringer boys no you actually have strict stringent testing requirements that you do with labs to make sure that everything is meeting the requirements before it goes out into a customer's hands yeah so we let take a look at you know what practically will this tool see in its lifetime what are the required ANC or UL or any kind of regulatory tests we need to make and we also talk to field testers like yourself too and to marry that with what actually happens in the field so we've got a group of field testers that looks at all our products as we push them out you know they give them a go and we get feedback from that as well so we try to get all these pieces of feedback as we develop products so that when we get to the Finish Line it's the best product that we can possibly make had an incredible value for customer all right let's keep looking for more products thanks will appreciate it all right guys I'm with Josh how are you Josh good how you doing you got a brand new Welding Table Yep this is our brand brand new titanium Welding Table just released it's basically a freestanding fabrication and fit up table it has a three 3T X 2T top 4 mm [Music] thick and it's basically going to come with all the accessories you see here we got our V pads for doing our round tube it's going to come with eight v-pads okay so you can set up round tube correct yeah you can set up the round tubing on it so you got it just set up ready to go ready to go at that point exactly okay and then you have also here these are kind of Dual Purpose these are your spacers for working with round tubes so you have this for your Square tube so you can keep everything flat and level so everything just kind of Pops just pops right in and these are 14 mm holes it's pretty general for the the smaller size tables and it doesn't come with clamps right it come with the clamps comes with four clamps it does come with cl y so these are four insert of clamps they nut they have the nut on the bottom that attaches to the the table okay they twiv around 360 and these are basically adjustable work plans so if you have something that has an angle on it you want to set up repeatable uh repeatable Parts you adjust that stop tighten it down now you have a set stop to put your parts what is this table what do this table cost this table is $169.99 with all the accessories you see here for everything right there everything you see on the table how we tried real hard we came out with a great product all right Lee what are we looking at with this tool now so here we've got our next generation of impact wrenches we launched our previous ones last year no go ahead I'm I'm listening to you okay um first generation last year and we're already looking at our next gen here so what we've done is we've updated the ID on them so they look cleaner look nicer and we've also updated the software inside okay so it's more than just better stickers better stickers don't pay the bill exactly so more than better stickers we're not upping the cost on these but we have improved the performance so the software updates inside are going to give you more torque and they're also going to give you more control over the variable speed trigger so when you're on speed one here and you just gently pulling the trigger you can see it's just barely moving oh wow okay okay so a lot of control you have what four speeds on this so we have three speeds and then in auto mode so this one two and three are great for controlling your torque as you're working on your project if you don't want to damage anything because it does have quite a bit of torque so this has up to, 1500 ftlb of torque and that little packet in this little guy so you got to be careful with it but then if you go up to the fourth speed here this will help you really have control over your over your projects so what I've got as a demo over here is your this is bolted on at uh just over 250 FTB we just used the torque wrench right here to do that it show me I want I want to see it though you get a Torque R it so now I'm going to break it away I'm not going to take my finger off the trigger okay and you're watch what the tool does see that slowed down as soon as it was it broke free so it's not stripping the the the the the threads out exactly yes so it'll notice when it no longer needs to be using as much power and it'll stop and slow it down so you can pull it out nice and easy it doesn't come flying at you you're not Dam anything now let me show you what it does in forward again I'm not going to let go of the [Music] trigger I'm still holding the trigger the tool stops on its own how does it know what foot pounds of torque to stop at it hits about a threshold of 250 ftlb of torque which is just about where you want that to be fastened to and then it's you got a torch wrench yeah we do you got a torque wrench with a meter on it uh not here with me I want to see 200 I want to see how close that comes do we got one on the booth anywhere this is the one we just set all right let me okay all right so this nut that was on track mode so it changes I put it on Peak mode so it records the very Max all right here's the one thing we are going to tell you about this if hits at about 250 is what we're is what we're saying but don't use this as your torque wrench and then go down the road and have your tire pop up that's on you you check this the right way what we're saying is I'm testing their claim go for it all right she stopped now let's go all right it was 225 I saw that I did see that about 225 so pretty good we're we're within what 25 lb of 25 yeah of what of what they're targeting and that can also vary a little bit dependent on your juice and your battery etc etc but I don't I would say that you're not lying yeah I I'd be pretty stoked about that pretty good
