The Neighbor took MY mower!

The other day it was 104 degrees, record-breaking heat. And as I was driving down the road, I saw this old guy. And he was cutting grass that had to be at least waist high. Looked like a hayfield. And this was an old fell. Uh he looked like he was in his 80s maybe. And he was driving like a 50-year-old Sears and Robuck lawn tractor trying to cut this thing. and I've watched him whittle away and whittle away and whittle away at this thing. Little tiny bite-sized chunks day by day. So, so today we're going to head out and go check out and see if we can cut his lawn for him. But here's the deal. He's about a half a mile down the road and if you look at the back of my truck, it's completely naked and I don't have a trailer on site. One of the few times. So, we're actually just going to hop on the lawn mower and drive down the road. But here's where it's getting one of those things that you got to be careful of. Range anxiety. And what I mean is we're going to take this ego battery powered lawnmower. And what with range anxiety, it's like a Tesla term or whatever, you know, like a battery powered car term. You're anxious. Do you have enough battery to get you to where you got to go? Do you have enough battery to do what you got to do? Do you have enough battery to get your butt back home? That's what range anxiety is. So, we're going to have well over a mile round trip just driving down the road. And then we're going to try to cut the tallest, gnarliest grass that I think I've I've ever seen. I mean, wait till you see this. I don't know if he's whittleled away at it anymore, but wait till you see this stuff. It's crazy. Let's get this Let's get this trip started. She can cook when she wants to. Well, I kind of screwed up, but it's never too late to try, right? I already started this journey, but before we got too far out of the gate, we're at 96%. So, I started her without full juice in the tank, and I figured ah the little bit of juice that that maybe that hopefully that 4% won't make a big difference. But, of course, that's when it always makes the biggest difference is when you you got that you need that extra 4%. But now, I got her in sport mode, fastest speed. So, I'm actually cooking pretty good. If you guys can't notice how fast I'm going, do you see my hair blowing back in the wind like Fabio? Pay attention. Trying to be sexy here. So, it was 104° and you were mowing and I'm like, "Oh my god, that guy is going to kill himself on that little lawn tractor and the crap is flying all over." And I could see the sweat from the road while I'm going 40 m an hour past you. Like, yeah, how high can you get this? Where is that? Well, technically the deck adjustment. You want to sit on it once and and get a feel for it? Go. So now she's on. Who's on? The mower is actually on right now. It is. You know what? Close your handles and push through your foot. Push that down. So you got a mechanical brake. Which the reason they got a mechanical brake is that takes the E bra off. Yep. Watch out, Cecil. Watch out now, buddy. And pull back on your two handles. You're going You're already lined up. Really? Yeah. Well, this is a lot nicer screen than mine. So, I'm at 85%. So, I calced out about a half a mile away from you. Oh, okay. Yeah. So, it took about 10% of the battery to get here. But now you should if Is this the cutting blade? Yeah. Blade. Okay. What? I'm waiting to hear it. Wait, wait, wait. Let me slow it down. I got you in sport mode. So, I got you in the fastest mode possible. That's funny. All right. I got you. I got Amazing. I got you now. You're in control mode. Uh you can also cut that section. Uh we've got a ton of turkeys here. Yeah. Go through. Yep. And that whole section was matted down the grass. Okay. And I'm thinking maybe they roosted there one evening. There's a bunch of chicks. Oh, in that in that one section right there. I see what you're talking about. All right. So, I'm going to slow this down for you. Okay. I'll let you actually try cutting it. So, here we can control the blade speed. Since you got super tall grass, I'm going to turn the blade speed up. Yep. I'm going to Your your speed is going to go down. So, now you're in turtle gear. You've got control, standard, and sport mode. Sport mode, you can pop a wheelie in. Like legit. [laughter] Like legit, you can pop a wheelie in. Oh no. But right now, if you close your handlebars and hit that big red button, you're mowing. Okay. Yeah. You Why don't you try it once? Okay. Yeah. You were interested in these things. The highest Oh, the highest grass setting. Here you go. I'm sorry. This is where this whole conversation started, wasn't it? I know. I was just saying to these guys, I don't care how old you are, you could tell when a person's having fun. And you were starting to get get used to it, weren't you? Oh, I Yeah, I do love it. Yeah. He just not used to that. It just starts off. For the record, I have never met Lance before today. This is the easiest job I've done. I didn't notice that he didn't even have his shoes on while he was doing this. It's going to happen next. Lance is going to track down where I live and come knock on my door to borrow my lawn mower, which is which is fine. How about if I leave this right here? Do you mind? That's your lawn, Lance. Or uh, you know, to see if they bed down here, the pollinators. Yep. Or the deer or creatures, critters, whatever you want. Yep. But hey, we should probably remow this a couple times to get this this grass so you don't get this blown up and killing off the rest of your yard. You know, listen to me telling him what to do on his own yard. Next, I'm gonna probably have him come over to my house and sharpen up the blades when he's done. Remember when I was saying about range anxiety? Well, I don't think we're going to have it. I thought this yard was a lot bigger. I thought we were going to be mowing the whole thing. So when I came here and seen it was partially mode, Lance has been picking away at it for a while. And my um mine's hydraulic as far as the steering controls. Yeah. I expect this is electric. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. It's quicker quicker and smoother. H than my hydraulic. And you're in standard mode right now with the speed turned down. So we could give you even like if you had to do detail work around trees and stuff. I've gone into control mode where it allows me to precise cut like just get right around everything without it being too herkyjerky. And then to get over here, I put it into sport mode and cranked it up and I just let her rip and I got here in a few minutes. I mean, I was just like, "Holy crap, I'm here already." That was kind of not eventful, but no, I love it. God damn, this is impressive. Now, I got a lot of wood back there. If you want to try your chainsaw out, [laughter] somebody's recruiting me.
