Open Frozen Gate

What happens here

Upon reaching a gate separating different pasture sections, the farmer attempts to open the gate, but it is heavily iced over. He comments on the weight of the ice (estimating 300 pounds) and the danger of icing in North Carolina. He manages to free the frozen chain and opens the gate, observing tracks of wildlife like foxes or coyotes in the snow.
