What happens here

This project involves an experimental stress test comparing the structural integrity of two common rafter birdsmouth cuts: an 'overcut' and a 'not overcut.' Using a hydraulic power jack and a custom wooden frame, each rafter piece is subjected to increasing pressure until failure, with the goal of determining if overcutting significantly weakens the rafter's resistance to compression.

Testing some framing. We got overcut and not overcut. Both the overcut and no overcut failed at 2,000 lb. This would be an extreme situation for a rafter with these overcuts. I personally don't think it matters for rafters and stairs if you overcut, but let me know what you think.
