Understand Airless Spray Nozzle Numbering

Airless spray gun nozzles feature a three-digit number. The first digit of this number indicates the spray angle or fan width when multiplied by 10 (e.g., '2' means a 20-degree spray angle, '3' means 30 degrees, '4' means 40 degrees, and '5' means 50 degrees). The subsequent two digits represent the size of the nozzle's orifice, which determines the passage size for the coating material. Smaller orifice numbers (e.g., 11, 12, 13) are suitable for less dense materials like primers, enamels, and lacquers. Larger orifice numbers (e.g., 31, 33, 35) are for denser, thicker materials like putties and intumescent paints.
