What happens here

This project provides essential instructions on how to safely set up and operate a table saw for common woodworking tasks, specifically rip cuts and cross cuts. It covers critical safety precautions like unplugging the saw, checking blade alignment, setting blade height, proper use of the fence and miter gauge, and the importance of push sticks and the riving knife to prevent injuries.

Hey, did you know that table saws are responsible for 35,000 injuries a year? Here's how to set one up correctly the first time. First things first, you want to check and make sure that your saw blade is plumb. That looks perfect. Next, you want to determine what kind of cut you're going to be doing. Are you going to be doing a rip cut where you go with the grain or a cross cut where you go against the grain? You want to set the height of your blade. So, mine is controlled down here by this lever. And you only want this blade about an inch or a quarter above your work piece. So, right about there. And when you're ripping with the table saw, make sure that you use the fence and measure correctly. So, to measure, you want to measure from your fence to the inside of your blade. So, we need 2 and 1/8. So, bring that out a little bit. 2 and 1/8. If you measure to the outside of your blade, you're going to lose an eighth because the blade is an eighth inch thick. Blade's plumb, set at the correct height, we have our fence measured correctly. Always use a push stick. Push stick, push block, whatever. Don't put your hands anywhere near the blade and be safe. Also, your riving knife. This riving knife causes the material to open up in the back so it doesn't pinch on your blade. So, let's rip this. When doing a cross cut, you never want to use your fence and here's why. So, when you're pushing through like this, it'll bind. And once it binds, it could kick back. So, get rid of your fence entirely and use your miter gauge. We'll hold our piece and we'll run it through right there. All right. I got to go ahead and rip some plywood for my shelf project there. Hopefully, I'll have it done by tomorrow and I'll get a video out for you guys. But anyways, it's Saturday. I got stuff to do. I'll see you guys later. Peace.
