Stripping Paint Sucks | Kabosh ActivStrip Makes it Fast & Easy.

hey so today I'm live gonna be talking about a subject that I've hated in the past something that I thought absolutely sucked and that's stripping paint but that no longer is true because I discovered a product called kabosh active strip it's a fast active stripping gel and I'm gonna be talking about it demonstrating it because they think this product is so amazing you got to check it out so I'm gonna be answering questions right here live on my show just throw in your questions about the product and I'll try to answer them the best I can so I got a pretty cool story um I was first introduced to this project or product because I had um this um table it was a dining room table out my chicken coop it was out there for several years and um it had quite a few coats of paint on it I think five or six coats of paint it had stain it had wax it had paint they had multiple clear coats like a polyurethane clear coat on it it was something that I was going to tackle you know down the road because I knew I wanted to strip this thing and see what it looked like stripped but I knew stripping sucked all the products I used in the past I didn't like them and they just took a long time they were um but kind of the uh burned my eyes that strong odor it just was not a pleasant task to do so um I was introduced to active strip I said hey I'm gonna make a video on this and we'll see what happens and if you haven't seen that video if you want to see the final product um project that table you got to go check it out it is on YouTube and I was um I was so amazed with the product that um I'm here demonstrating again asking um answering questions about it so um I got a couple things I did I wanted to really put it to the test because that table that was out my chicken coop I knew um some of the stuff it had on it and um but you know there was some claims on active strip what it can do and someone to put it to the test I created a door right here this door has 15 coats of paint on it right here you can see the door and 15 coats of a um common household oil-based paint a water-based paints and it had um some lacquer and and Incorporated in there also so we're gonna see we're gonna see what it does live on whether it can actually strip 15 coats of paint I put the active strip on there 24 hours ago it's still active it's still wet it's still soft and so we're gonna see what it can do I also got a door right here that I prepared this has got five coats of paint on it I put the active strip on there the stripping gel about um 45 minutes ago five coats of paint common oil-based paints common um water-based paints like some spray paint um some exterior paints some interior paint that were water-based we're gonna see what it can do you can see 45 minutes ago um it's already um active buckling up the paint I also got a chair right here on this chair came from Chris somebody wants to know is the stripper solvent base so the stripper I'm good question so we have um somebody over here watching the show and um live to answer your questions so I'm going to answer your questions if you have anything you want to know about this product just ask me I'm going to try my best to answer the question so it's a water-based product it's not solvent based it's a good question this is an eco-friendly product that contains no nnp contains no methylene chloride and it is a non-flammable product so good question water-based what I really like about it being water-based is my tools every time I'm done with it I just go wash my tools um in the sink just clean them up and I like just using warm water I use some Dawn dish soap the tools will dry out and then they're reusable it's one of the great things about it being water-based so I got a chair I want to put this this product on here because I want you to show it's a fact fast active stripping gel so I want you to see how fast it actually works so I'm just going to put some on on this chair right here and then we're going to take a look at it here in a few minutes so we're going to see how fast it actually is how fast does it start where working so good question so from my experience I've been using it here um I used it on my table been using it on some test products I noticed like within a minute you actually see um your pain your common household paints start to um kind of bubble and start to buckle we'll show you right here I mean I just put it on this is live I'm not staged so this is um you'll right around 45 minutes ago it's I'm not sure if you can see like it's already buckling and curling right there so it acts pretty fast so can you use it on the vertical surface so um somebody asked if you can use and use vertical or horizontal so I'll show you right here what's one of the incredible things about it it's a gel and it actually will hang vertically it will not run it will not drip so I got the chance to use it on my dining room table the legs I just brushed it right on the legs and it just hung on the legs there was no drips no sags no masks so if you're doing kitchen cabinets you can remove your doors set your doors down apply it to your doors to strip your doors put all your face frames side panels stuff like that you can brush it right on the side panels and it's going to hang not drip not make a mess so can you start scraping the 50 so I applied um this is 15 coats of paint so common household paints I know that because I applied it and so I applied all these coats of paint then I applied the stripper approximately 24 hours ago so I'm going to show you what it could do this is live I have no idea I've never skipped something with 15 coats of paint last time it was a table out in um this chicken coop and that was just absolutely amazed Blown Away how simple and easy it was so I'm just taking the stripping tool this is a stripping tool that comes in a kit right here and you can see right there that's down to bare wood now let me show you so this is a live demonstration I'm right down to Bear wood get close to the camera so somebody could see yeah I'll take it close to the camera let me strip a little bit more here so you can see right there 15 this is no joke that's 15 coats a bay you can see bare wood so that was common um household oil base it was spray cans it was um some um water-based paints like I used a self-priming paint like Aura I used some duration a bunch of different paint products and it's stripping that right off you can see how fast and easy this is check this out stripping it right down to bare wood just like that let me I'll do the side rails right here side rails just like that we're talking bare wood it's even taking it down have you ever used it on a 2K poly so a 2K poly I have never used it on a 2K poly it um and they say it um some of the products some of the things little circle strip all kinds of product deals strip oil based paste common household oil-based paints common household water-based paints those strip lacquers it'll strip varnishes I have not tested it on a 2K poly that's a good question I will actually put that to the test and we'll find out so um how thick do you need to apply it so that's a good question question how thick do you need to apply it so I've done some testing and I've applied it really fast and um what I notice is is I will show you this door right here um trying to keep things organized you can see it like it's white what you want to do is put it on thicken up that you can't see the paint underneath if you're trying to strip 15 coats of paint it all depends on how many coats of paint you got but typically you're going to want to just brush it on thick enough that you can't see the paint underneath and it's going to start acting um and stripping immediately so once you um strip the paint so you can keep stripping on that one door when you get it down and there's like some residue what do you do to clean it or do you need to sand it or have what's the next step after you yeah so I'll show you so you know we need a stripping paste stripping paint is um you know there's always going to be some type of residue left behind so you see it's all the way down to bare wood right there and what I noticed on the table I used on the dining room table it actually had a penetrating stain and a wax that was penetrated deep into the wood but I got all the paint off and stuff um I've used a coat of it to actually pull out the stain and pull out the wax and it was literally down to bare wood but when you get down if you got any little bit of paint left any um type of residue left there is a residue wash so um kibosh sells a product it's a residue wash right here um so there's a residue wash do that just in the middle the residue washer the recipe wash you um just take the product and they they actually sell a kit that is going to be sold on QVC so it's only gonna be sold on QVC only the full kit you can buy separately you can buy the kabosh um the Bosch comes in quartz and it does come in gallons and they sell it um individually so there's multiple places you can go buy it including paint life Supply Co but on QVC they sell a full kit for you um what day so you'll see that on Thursday Thursday will be live on QVC this kit right here the kit actually includes a quart of kebash it includes the scraping tool it includes a two inch chip brush you can use any type of brush to apply it um a chip brush is very inexpensive it comes with this container right here to apply it with which is very handy it comes with two scrub pads it comes with the eight ounces of resin to do wash so the table that when I was done with that table I didn't use residue wash it just took the table out took it outside I actually did the stripping you know inside this might be a question somebody might ask um can it be used in inside or outside so the product is can be used indoors or Outdoors it is winter time it was snowing there was no possibility to do it outside so I actually did it inside and how is that possible well it's virtually odor-free just smell it can barely smell hardly anything it odor free I just worked on that table literally in my living room so I just put down some drop cloths worked on it and the way I went so do you can you use it on any other surfaces besides wood besides so you can see I'm gonna like I'm just going to show you the residue wash so I just put a little bit of residue wash on here and you can see now it's just taking off the leftover paint what's left behind so I can see some yellow I know what the yellow is the yellow has a oil-based spray can it was Rust-Oleum oil-based you can see it's cleaning that just with little effort at all it's cleaning it right down to bare wood so that's what my residue wash is going to do so when I'm done stripping all the paint um you can also use the the pads I was using brillo pads and some different type of scrapers to do the profile so you can use um like the brittle pad to do profiles because not everything is going to be flat so how long will it stay wet have to you know that was one of the most amazing things about it and so um most of the strippers I've ever used in my career they dry extremely fast you're constantly applying them I don't know if you ever tried this trick you wrap it in like plastic and stuff like that it becomes extremely messy because they're trying to keep the stripper active and um because if it's not active it's not actually working so active script stays active stays wet for 24 plus hours this door I just showed you right here this is literally 24 hours later and this stuff is still soft and still active and so what did that actually um comes into play I thought it was pretty amazing when I was doing that table you know I I myself do a little 80d I got to do like um more than just one thing at a time I was working on the table but then I was working on you know other chores here and there I would apply the product and I would just leave so say you're working on a product and you know um a family member calls you you've got gotta like take somebody somewhere you got to go watch your kids soccer game you can apply the product no worries come back it's still going to be wet and active 24 plus hours later absolutely incredible I love that so I actually on that table I applied it went to bed went to sleep woke up the next morning and started stripping the table if you haven't seen it you got to check out that video it was absolutely incredible um incredible story straight out of the chicken coop it turned my trash into treasure and it was a hardwood table I'm being interrupted again got um questions coming in so ask your questions I'm here to answer them live so do you recommend lightly sanding afterwards so yeah so one of the things is ripping um want to see some more yeah because I'm going to get to this right here so um one of the things is is this is a water-based product and so my question is is it gonna raise the grain you know and make my project all real grainy am I gonna have to do just a ton of sanding you know afterwards well this product does not raise the grain so that table that I script took it outside cleaned it I just cleaned it with water scrubbed it down and then I lightly sanded it and then I clear coated it with a 2K poly and the table looked absolutely amazing so you got to go check it out I'm just gonna keep stripping here show you because um kebas makes the stripping the paint absolutely incredible fast efficient and kind of oddly satisfying there's a few things in my career that were oddly satisfying and this is one of them now so does this stop working after 24 hours so it stays active the the um on the container and from my experience it stays active wet Beyond 24 hours I haven't tested it to see how long past that time it will say um whack and active but the instructions say 24 plus hours and I gotta say from my experience that's no joke that's no lie this was for real so I'm looking at this it's already bubbling up on here I don't know if you can see there's some it hasn't been very long but we're starting to get some bubbles on it and it's starting to um work on the paint already so that's how fast we're talking you know just minutes this has been sitting for about 45 minutes and we'll see what it we got five coats of paint five coats of paint down to bare wood right there the first coat I can see gray right there my first coat was an oil-based um Rust-Oleum industrial enamel primer that I sprayed on there so you can see it's took it all the way down to bare wood look how fast and easy that is and what I noticed is if you're working on a project that's you know around that amount of time you know five coats the stuff stays nice and wet it's nice and easy to remove and get it off look at that I mean that is incredible somebody wants to see you take it off the profile take it off the profile so um I'm just going to work on the profile right here I don't have the tool right here on video to take it off the profile but I'll show you I'm gonna use like a pad just like this it just took off that profile right there I'm gonna use a tool something you got to have tools in Your Arsenal to do the stripping so I can just you can see how easy it's pulling it off that profile but this kit they put everything you do need so everything you need to spread paint is in the kit so it's got a bristle this can be used for the um wash but I can also use it to strip off that profile so you can see how quick I've just cleaned that profile right there when I'm all done I can take my residue wash and I'll wash it out of all the cracks just like that we've got simple fast and easy that's how fast it easy temperature so the burning temperature um it's a good question it doesn't say on the container or the instructions but I I've been using it indoors yeah I'm indoors I'm not being overwhelmed myself extremely low odor um it's approximately 70 degrees in here so I I think you know somewhere between maybe 50 degrees and you know what's reasonable 80 degrees I wouldn't be taking it outside in 100 degree temperatures and working on 100 degrees but um I can put that to the test so you can see somebody wants to know how much is a gallon and how many square feet per gallon um how much is a gallon you can look that up it's um sold by gallons and quartz at paint life Supply Co so you can look that up right now to find out um Lisa if you can look that up so how much what's the coverage for a gallon and a quart so quart a quart is going to cover um approximately 25 square feet so this is a court right here 25 square feet a gallon is going to cover approximately 100 square feet so from my experience that dining room table I did um I used approximately two and a half to three quarts on that dining room table and I gotta say that's one of the things that's incredible about the product is it's just a one application process I don't have to repo um continue applying multiple coats of this stuff you saw right here 15 coats of a five coats of hay it's incredible it's one application and done it's fast simple and easy to do so there we go we're stripping it um a gallon at paint like Supply Co it sold for 59 so gallons fifty nine dollars the court is 1950 at pay life Supply currently out of stock but if you push the notify me button they'll get an email when it's back in stock it's currently out of soft the stuff has been like um hot cakes that people have been buying like crazy um people been coming in to pay life Supply Co buying it it's so easy so simple and easy to use that people want this stuff it's absolutely incredible so it's um Native has a question go go ahead hostage native do you have so um what's interesting you don't need me is it because um it's a water-based product this um and it's an eco-friendly product once again there's no method on methylene chloride it there's no nmp in it and it's non-flammable it's water-based when I did the table I didn't have any residue wash I just took the table outside took a garden hose and it's eco-friendly I just washed it off I just used a scrub pad and I just scrubbed it off and you can actually see me um I also use a pressure washer I just pressure washed it off and on the pressure washer work absolutely amazing you don't need to neutralize it with thinners um once again water-based on the residue wash this is if you want to get any any of the residue off of the active strip because you're concerned about you know any type of contamination on there from fish eye into codeine and stuff if you're clear coating that you would use a residue wash to clean it all off I gotta say I washed it off with water I sanded it and then I clear coated it on the table if you watch that YouTube video it's got a couple coats of the 2K poly there was no fisheye there was no um any type of issues coating that I just brushed on multiple coats I wanted a brushed on natural look to it so I brushed it on looked absolutely amazing you can see it just stays active and wet I'll show you I mean it's that's what it looks like it's not dripping it's not sagging it's not making a mess this is how fast you can strip doors I would get the bulk of this off I would take it to wherever I wanted to do my residue wash and I do my residue wash get it all cleaned up but the profiles I can just take and it's this fast I just strip that profile just like that so that number one painter Torrance County South we're located in Texas and have temperatures regularly 100 degrees plus during the summer is there anywhere that I can find out the max application temperature and there is a representative on this chat from the company so um if he could answer that that would be great Chris is new to using this product and it really likes it because it works great and it's eco-friendly and it's not harsh
