What happens here
This project showcases the complex process of clearing and stacking large volumes of snow using various heavy machinery, including an SDLG L918F wheel loader and a Bobcat skid steer, equipped with different snow plows and pushers. The video highlights challenges like icy, compacted snow and demonstrates strategic equipment changes to adapt to conditions. It also covers operational aspects such as refueling and managing a drone for aerial footage, including an unexpected incident.

(8,223 characters)[Music] all right you guys we got a jam-packed show for you today we're gonna try [Music] and actually try it's like we had three so we had like it wore back for my 10 minutes and rain [Music] are you guys the fun never ends we've got two to four inches of snow coming today which if it actually lands will make this officially the snowiest fifth snowiest month in Minnesota history and it is the snowiest February we've ever had I have two loaders broke down thankfully I keep three extra pieces of equipment but the problem is my mechanic that's worked for me for 10 15 years I've never been late on a payment to him sometimes I pay him even when he doesn't do anything just like hey Brad here's some money for you hasn't called or texted me back or done anything so I'm down to running my bare-bones equipment I mean I got everything running but I don't have anything spare which is nerve racking is all heck and today I got to go stack up snow which is the same as stacking up dollar bills which is kind of nice but then tonight I got to go off and plow two to four inches of snow and the funny thing is I was watching on the news today the report the news report was talking about daylight savings time and oh my how does that screw up people's sleep schedules and it's so impactful enough thinking flip you life of a snow plow er we we get up at 2:00 in the morning sometimes we plow for 18 20 hours go to sleep for 2 3 4 hours get up plow again then maybe sleep for a whole day and then start it all over again how does that impact things unless those quit let's quit rambling and let's get in to start stacking up some snow today so right now we've got the Arctic sectional pusher on the sledge and we're gonna be using the sledge for today's stacking but the Arctic even though it is my favorite pusher of all time because it scrapes a lot better than any pusher I've ever used it's not the strongest pusher it's got these pucks which are amazing at floating and scraping with lots and I tell you assault usage is down those pucks aren't designed to slam into snow and that's exactly what we're gonna be doing today so we're gonna be popping the arctic sectional pushers off and putting the protec pusher on because that's a heavier duty pusher that's stronger it can't take more of the beating like the Mike Tyson getting hit in the forehead type of a pusher where the Arctic sectionals or more like float like a butterfly sting like a bee little a little little better job scraping and pushing but it's not my first choice for stacking snow so we got to go switch stuff out today hopefully get this done fast go home sleep for a little bit and then go back out tonight and plow can't complain it's a life of a snow plower to what we signed up for if you're gonna complain just complain to yourself you know one thing that has definitely changed is I now bring as much camera gear with me when I go out plowing as they do all of the other gear I need kitty you want to go out that's farm kitty love farm cats frickin love farm cats hold on this one came right off from our farm followed my daughter home and my other farm cat's already out here you're definitely going plowing tonight hey here's my other one that's my first farm kitty that's my cat I called that one my cat even though I didn't technically bring him home Nova and Mama Kitty are okay with each other but they're just okay with each other we got it we got one in the house another farm cat that neither one of them are okay with the Hatem kept in fuzzy balls it's just a little little one but he is just feisty just as soon as they go inside they just he goes after I'm playing but they got their own thing to work out you guys all right let's get plowed so the protec pushers currently on my bobcat and I need to put it on the sledge which means I've got to get the Bobcat oh and we kind of got it sandwiched in this it's gonna be tight I'm watching to make sure I don't hit the protec on the roof of the brand new Volvo and I don't when they realize I'd better watch my tires too the protex actually froze onto the Bobcat but a little bit of convincing gets you're free now that we've got the protec off from the skid loader we've got to take the Arctic off from the sledge to hook the protec up to the sledge it's always some kind of jockeying going around [Music] one of the few features the sledge has which is really nice is you don't have to get out to switch attachments that beeping means that this machine is unlocked on the bucket and now I should be able to just back away and go hook up to the protec without ever leaving the warmth of my cap [Music] all right you guys we got the protec on when we have to get a fledge that's low on fuel so and the fuel trucks at the stacking site I think we got enough fuel to make it [Music] that's my favorite when I happen a piece of equipment and the guys before me leave it on e I mean that's the first thing you want to do when you jump in a piece of equipment is to worry if you got enough fuel to pull out of the parking lot no I mean yeah all right I couldn't do it I couldn't make it couldn't make it to the gas station which is right over there so I called the fuel truck here she's flashing at me which I'm watching the fuel gauge go down as I'm driving and you guys say well I'll just just go for it but the thing is is priming a diesel engine sucks you end up getting diesel fuel I don't care how good you are you end up getting diesel fuel on you and that's the smell I don't want to have all day and night because it just doesn't go away so I'm gonna pull over it better be safe than sorry top it off and then we're gonna go on down the road fuel truck a vegan here she comes to save the day that's my under under dog theme song I actually think I'm being a Sally can't trust gauges anymore you guys the sledge has an external fuel gauge as well so I'll check it out so the sledge has you can actually see where the fuel is and I still got a fuel in the bottom one so I could have made it but whatever the inside gauge is flashing and blinking and the external one's telling me we got fuel [Applause] yeah that's good all right we got her topped off and it's time to finish the trip out to the site where we're gonna be stacking snow but on the way there we got to have a little bit of fun I actually run into Tim at the light and I wouldn't do this with anybody else you guys but this is kind of fun to make him nervous you know the worst part is he doesn't even get nervous over this crap I mean I come right up to him and it doesn't faze him [Music] actually this is a pretty good shot of this protect me look at that blue thing right there you can see that the protec actually floats independently of the loader which gives it a really good clean screen I think it's a little slick snow was pretty compacted and the protec just wasn't the ideal choice for this and then this happened I don't know how much more abuse this thing can take he just smashed right into it with a payloader hey can you do me a favor when you see the drawing don't run right into it I'm looking down now [Music] yeah I was I gotta see if it's even fixable so while I tried to put my $1,700 to play back together to ran and got the bucket which was the right tool for this prob and the protec normally the protec would have worked if this still would have been a little lighter and fluffier but this stuff was so against I we just needed something that was a little bit smaller so the sledge could actually handle it better and underneath all that beautiful snow to Minnesota [Music] hey guys I can't believe that drone is flying again yeah that buckets what we needed holy cow what a difference that made was slowing us down the most wasn't the lack of power it was lack attraction anytime we went into that pile oh you look just spin we just could grab anything and yeah I probably should have chains but I know so it is what it is be working pretty good we got a lot more snow to stack then we're all plowing tonight I hope you guys are having an awesome plowing season god bless you guys go get them and do me a favor check out these two videos in the break down here and I'm gonna get back to work
