What happens here
After the first coat has thoroughly dried, sand the entire surface of the mantelpiece. The video demonstrates using an Ekasand 3x4 Sander paired with an Ekasilk Ultra Fine Sanding Sponge. Connect the sander to a dust extraction system (visible as a hose) to minimize airborne dust. Sand gently but thoroughly to smooth out any paint imperfections, brush marks, or dust nibs, creating a perfectly smooth surface for the next paint layer. Use a sturdy ladder to reach higher areas comfortably and safely.
Goal: Smooth out the first coat and prepare for the final finish.
