Initial Smoothing of Texture

What happens here

After applying the first coat of texture, use a drywall knife to gently smooth the wet texture. Use light, even pressure to knock down any prominent peaks and blend the texture into the surrounding existing wall. The goal is to create a base layer that starts to match the original texture.
