What happens here
This video provides a step-by-step guide to replace a failing toilet flapper with a Korky universal flapper. The process involves turning off the water supply, removing the old deteriorated flapper, cleaning the flush valve seat, installing the new flapper, adjusting its flush setting, connecting and adjusting the chain, and finally restoring water and testing the flush. The goal is to restore efficient flushing and prevent a weak flush or running toilet.

(4,402 characters)so this is what we got when we flush the toilet we have to actually hold the handle down because if we don't look at that we get a super weak flush hey folks that fix a guy here and today we're going to be checking out this toilet we're going to see why it's not flushing i'm going to let you know right now that i have seen this many times i can't say that it's a common problem but it's a problem so come along let's get to fixing [Music] [Applause] all right so first thing you want to do is get down here and shut this toilet off right righty tighty we'll shut this off this is a multi-turn stop so then we just want to flush and you can probably already see what the issue is here here's what ended up happening with this other than the fact that you can see how bad it is and you know what as bad as it is it's still actually sealing really well which is pretty wild to me but what happened here was you see these two tabs that is how you actually put the flapper on but with this repair style flapper they used to give you the extra option if one of these tabs was broken off right here that you could actually put this rubber ring leave the rubber ring option on and actually put it around this fill tube right here okay so what we got to do is we got to pop this off of both of these little grommets and we actually i'm just going to give this a slice and we'll cut that ring right there pop this off on that side get down in here get that side popped off this whole little thing it's just gonna raise out of there all right we can pop that back in there unclip this and so here's the deal right they actually left this piece off you're usually supposed to cut right here and cut right here and take this off and then it's going to work good so what we're going to do is we're going to get all this out of there you can see this whole thing is deteriorating falling apart but the one part that's still good is actually where it seals they had no leak pretty wild all right now we're gonna go ahead we're gonna clean this up the best we can we'll try to get all these little bits up we're gonna specially clean around right here where the flapper sets and you can actually see this gasket that the flush valve seats into the tank right there that's starting to go bad you could when it starts to wobble and wafer like that and get all funky well then you know that it's not got a lot of life left but it's still working right now and we'll leave it so this is the number 100 quirky universal it says it resists chlorine this is a standard size for two inch they make them in three as well and this just fits a lot of different toilets these red flappers or blue flappers whatever white flappers they tend to last a lot longer than the black ones that just really break down so much quicker right and so we're gonna pop this on we should be good to go and made in the usa so then on the back of this i'm actually not really used to this setup it's got different settings and you can set this up to whichever side you want so this particular toilet is a kohler well worth and it actually is a k4620 so it says put it at number two all right so you can dial this up it's got a little arrow right there and it's on six right now pop it back to two and now we're ready to pop it on then you just get it hooked up on both of these little hooks right here and it's just as simple really as popping it down now we're gonna be good to go just gotta adjust the chain so to adjust the chain for this it's really not too far off right you want a little bit of a sag but not too much you don't want it taut you want just a little bit of a sag to it and so to achieve that honestly we'll just take this pop it off and we'll move it up like maybe three rings and check it there we go you got a little bit of dangle you can see that right there but it's still not that bad and i bet that works out really well let's go ahead turn it on all right shut off no noise back where it needs to be and that's a nice flushing toilet check that flush out so installing that cork universal hooked us up we got this toilet back up and running and now my friend she's gonna be pretty happy i really hope you folks are enjoying the videos please subscribe click that like button check us out over on facebook we're just trying to help people out we hope we're doing that thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon
