Transfer Curved Edge to Pavers Using Jig and String
At 0:54 in
Simple jigs are the best jigs 🤓
What happens here
With the custom jig ready, position one end (typically the side with the flat metal plate) against the existing curved landscape edge or wall. Thread a pencil or marker through the U-shaped bracket on the other end of the jig, or simply hold it against that end. Attach a long string (e.g., from a chalk line reel) to the pencil/marker. While keeping the string taut, slide the jig along the entire length of the curved edge. As you slide, the pencil will draw a continuous, accurate curved line onto the pavers, precisely mirroring the contour of the landscape feature. This marked line indicates exactly where each paver needs to be cut to fit perfectly.
Goal: Accurately mark pavers for cutting along a curved line
Tools and materials
- Custom Wooden Jig DIY — Acting as a guide to trace the curved landscape edge onto the pavers
- Pencil/Marker — Drawing the curved line on the pavers
- String — To extend the line from the jig's endpoint to the pencil, ensuring the curve is transferred
- Pavers — The surface onto which the curved line is being marked for eventual cutting
