She's Tired of picking up rocks! So we put this little tractor to work!

What happens here

After the bulk of the rock clearing is complete, the farmer observes the significantly improved terrain, noting its transformation from a rough, 'moon-like' surface to a much smoother one. He indicates that some larger rocks will still need to be hand-picked. He plans to continue raking for another estimated four hours to ensure thorough clearing. The next step will be to spread a seed mix including fescue, annual rye grass, and millet. Millet is specifically chosen for its heat and drought tolerance, which will provide necessary shade for the perennial fescue during the dry summer months, allowing it to establish and eventually take over the pasture.

Goal: Prepare the land for new grass growth and ensure long-term pasture health.

Tools and materials

  • Annual Rye Grass Seed — Providing quick ground cover and erosion control
  • Fescue Grass Seed — Establishing perennial pasture grass
  • Millet Seed — Acting as a heat and drought-tolerant shade crop for fescue
