Our first calf is born....and its its not good

I don't really want to be live right now but I wanted to give you guys an update on our calf mom seemed to be struggling a little bit and possibly the baby was a like a breech birth or something like that the calf's head looks kind of turned back like its neck was broken so that's what we're out here doing mom's still trying to lick the baby not a good thing not a good thing guys if you were on my earlier livestream today so our cow this cow here was in labor she's dropped her calf right here and it's not good calf's neck kind of looks like it was turned back on itself I don't know if it was turned around there and maybe that's why she was struggling I can't get too awful close to her she's licking the baby now and I still have hope I mean it's been literally I've been watching my camera is set up from the living room over here I've been watching on the big TV so that I didn't bother her but these are just the facts of life here on the farm very frustrating it would sure be nice to go right now and get a little Holstein calf and put with mom fact that's a phone call that I'm gonna make as soon as I'm off the phone here to see if if anybody's got a little Holstein calf that they need to get rid of because mom's got milk she's loaded up with milk and her baby just didn't make it could be one of the reasons why this cow was available from the feedlot when we when we bought her so I can't I can't go bend over and get get close and there's no use in calling a vet I mean dead cows dead cow so that ain't gonna change it Mama's still trying to stimulate so let's just show you I mean this is real life this is real world mom's still cleaning up the afterbirth still trying to stimulate I came over and the baby's head just looks turned all the way back like like its neck is broken I can't get too awful closer Mama's gonna bust my butt all the rest of the cows seem to be in here just kind of morning along with the with mom and mom's not willing to mom's not willing to give up right now so that's what's going on man I wish there was something I could do to change what's going on right now I can't just jump in there and do anything right now for beer get busted I'll have to come over here and get this calf up because there's gonna be coyote issue this calf doesn't get picked up we're gonna have predators over here tonight harassing the animals and stuff like that she'll probably stick with that baby for a while I'm gonna make a phone call to a local dairy gentleman that I know has a fencing business sloop sloop fencing we're gonna reach out to sloop and see if if snoops got some some calves that were born in to the air yesterday and we can take the smell of the calf here and rub it all over the baby and put it with Mama and hopefully hopefully this works out so it's it's such excitement turns to such such a letdown yes I just looked at this baby and I just want it to move you know I just I just want it to move that's it that's it that's the saga of the the calf being born today here on the farm it didn't happen the way we wanted it to happen thought I'd give you guys a quick update yeah yeah gotta make some phone calls so I'm gonna have to get off this livestream I don't know I don't know what happened I don't know I wanted to come over here and help her but I don't think I could have helped her don't think that there's anything I could have done so in a situation like this going to get a vet isn't gonna do me any good it's really not this it's just it's just what's happening so she struggled all day long to have her baby and then this that's a bummer that's a bummer and that also means something about the cow I mean there there's something to do with the cow also too so she was probably not a good mom or it had this trouble before and that's why she was at the barn at the sale barn so guys that's it that's what's going on hit the like button that helps to stimulate the channel even though this is a bad thing found that like button it helps to stimulate and get rural content out to to people who don't live on farms and people that don't see this stuff I think it's good this is a valuable lesson for children to know that you know farming is oftentimes life and death whether it's the life and death of the farmer or whether it's a life and death of of animals like this so just part of it got to suck it up pull up our big girl shoes pull it for big girl pants and keep on trucking man so what we got to do I'm gonna get off here I'm gonna go make some phone calls and see if I can find a way to make this a positive so we can get a baby calf and get it in here with her I'll be fooling with this until probably 10 or 11 o'clock tonight all right maybe later we'll talk to you guys later thanks a lot for joining me here on the Stoney Ridge farm channel today that's what's going on that's what happened sometimes been on a farm sometimes farm ins failing
