What happens here
Locate the fuel filter, which is situated towards the rear of the engine bay on the passenger side. There are several fuel lines connected to it with various quick-disconnect fittings. Using a pair of fuel line pliers (or carefully with regular pliers), compress the clips on each line and gently pull them off. Be prepared for some diesel fuel to leak out; have rags or a catch pan ready. Once all lines are disconnected, carefully remove the old fuel filter from its mounting bracket. If new hose clamps are provided with the new filter, it's a good idea to use them. Install the new fuel filter into the bracket and reattach all fuel lines, ensuring the clips snap securely into place. After installation, turn the ignition key to the 'on' position several times for 10-15 seconds each (without starting the engine) to allow the fuel pump to prime the system and remove air from the lines.
Goal: Install the new fuel filter and prime the fuel system.
