What happens here
With the vehicle on level ground, prepare to drain the old engine oil. Locate the oil drain plug on the oil pan underneath the vehicle. Place a large oil drain pan directly beneath the plug to catch the used oil. Using a 13mm socket and a socket wrench, loosen and remove the drain plug. Allow all the old oil to completely drain out. While the oil is draining, address the oil filter. The oil filter housing is located on the top of the engine. Use a 27mm socket with an extension and a socket wrench to unscrew the oil filter housing. Carefully remove the housing and the old oil filter element. Use a small pick or screwdriver to remove the old O-rings from the filter housing stem and the cap. Lubricate the new O-rings with fresh engine oil and install them in the correct grooves on the filter housing. Slide the new oil filter element onto the housing stem. Once the engine oil has completely drained, reinstall the drain plug and tighten it to specification. Then, carefully reinsert the oil filter housing with the new filter and O-rings, hand-tightening it first, and then tightening to the recommended torque of 25 Newton-meters or 18 foot-pounds.
Goal: Remove old engine oil and replace the engine oil filter.
