Seed Or Sod? Which is better for your yard. Pro-Tips
What happens here
Avoid laying sod in July or August, during the scorching heat of summer. High temperatures can quickly burn and bake the sod, making it difficult for it to establish. If you must lay sod during this period, use a digital thermometer to check the soil temperature beneath the sod, aiming for cool and moist conditions. A heavy watering schedule (heavier than in spring or fall) will be necessary to keep the sod cool, moist, and alive during summer. The digital thermometer is also effective for soil temperatures when using seed.
Goal: Prevent sod from burning or dying due to excessive heat during summer installation.
