Rocky Mountain Race Week Day "Zero": Our Road Trip to The First Track! (Behind The Scenes)

so travel video road to race week we got everything loaded up i watched elvis washed uncle rob you know i just couldn't not wash them elvis looked like hell there was you know the front wheel was so dark from brake dust it just looked it just looked terrible there were so many bugs on the front from going through the middle of nebraska i mean there's still a bunch on there but like it was bad so we watched it uh we got to take ruger to the um pet hotel place drop him off and then hit the road uh we're pretty much loaded up now just finishing up getting some things out of the shop tools and whatnot this is gonna be fun i'm really really excited and i'm glad you guys are alone for the ride to see the things that no one else sees on the way to the way to driving a thousand something miles the trip before the trip well we are rolling off to the dog hotel the trip before the trip before the trip everything is a process i just watched you pull that pink elephant out of your shirt you don't have enough hands to get it all out here no but i wanted it to smell like me so that he like has something he smells like me wow you're such a nice nice dog mom hey what are you doing that is not the door it was funny the the girl that worked at the counter was dating one of the um ashton's brother the triple seven so she was like oh yeah that's funny so we made ash in our emergency contact he doesn't know so if ruger um shows up in 10 pounds of dog turd uh i don't know he'll probably get a call from his uh brother's girlfriend saying we need help which would be funny suck it ashton so if you watched the last road trip video which you should have if you haven't seen it already where we drove to uh omaha for the streetcar takeover kickoff party you remember the part where we hit traffic on 35 near pauls valley oklahoma got off the highway and went around it but only after we had to sit in it for a little bit to get the next accident well uh we are taking 35 north again through oklahoma city again and this time we are more prepared what i have done is set my navigation to a gas station off one of the exits before the traffic ever even starts so we can hop off uh just past when he would judd over to highway 77 and bypass everything that way so we don't have to sit in it at all should be a little smoother this time might be a little better scenery because we don't have to drive through someone's neighborhood um i hope it works we are 40 minutes from that exit right now so uh it's coming up the sole purpose of memory is to not make the same mistake twice and we are using it today onward well guys stop to check the straps oh man this one is real loose here we broke a strap good thing i got more just i think i have more sweet let's get this thing changed out it looks like the looks like that one's fraying too i don't want it to rip because i don't want to have to do this again later so i'm just going to change it now anyway better safe than sorry especially when you're towing you don't cut corners we just started seeing signs for the apocalypse of traffic so we're gonna get off here exit 66. then turn right onto state highway 29 toward windwood look at the stacks on that peterbilt turn right into the parking lot somewhere oh well it's telling me to stop with this phillips but we don't need to stop there i pictured you like riding one of those like the ceramic animals over there oh my god all right but how funny would it be if you rode the tortoise well that'll probably make traffic worse very scenic out here tiger king land i know we went over this in the last video but i never watched tiger king just because i refuse to do it i need to set my nav and figure out how to get back onto 77 here i think we're in downtown pauls valley right now and they got brick roads oh that's great yeah it feels great good job paul euros a little bumpy here action figure museum i can't even imagine what that place is like or who works there they had a pillsbury doughboy thing radio shack i don't know radio shack still existed did anybody watching this video ever have x mods from radio shack oh my god like the old side for what for radio shack oh wow yeah that's like a 90s one it looks like the one on that power inverter that i have back there from my dad's suburban anal reflection there's another one there's this thing yeah the 1320 does on their snapchat where they take travel trailers and they put anal in front of the name and it's never not funny if you're driving somewhere you see a travel trailer or like a generic rv try that and you will laugh i think it's just the little things to occupy yourself when you're on the road all the time i can totally see how they invented um that they're like oh we're not done with the highway yet let's just tear apart this bridge and work on that too i guess this is what they do around here at least they're actually doing something here yeah really we're still gonna make way better time this whole detour this whole detour once we got off the highway to the pin i set somewhere else is 28 minutes there is no freaking way and this this this leg of it after paul's valley to the next part of the highway is 14 miles so we're probably drove 30 miles off the highway and it uh yeah maybe not that far but 20 something miles of detour to only take a little over half an hour we would have sat in traffic for hours to get through that hours how many hours works for me that concludes our traffic detour it's nice looks like an abandoned gas station there uh back on 35 north no more construction traffic is going smoothly somebody was waving like we had a broken strap or something so i feel like one of the things just came untied oh what the hell i think i have another one of these why is it doing that what is so sharp on there i've never had that problem before yeah uncle rob sucks man oh well figure it out public service announcement the on cue where the last video's thumbnail was taken the gas price is still 269. nice conveniently did you see the sign that said now entering logan county no gas is 269 in york county i grant every gas station to have 269 gas can we make diesel 269 do yep awesome save some money we're going to cut down a christmas tree this year oh it didn't record it it wasn't recording it we're gonna pass more see there's more right up there but they don't look the same they're similar well they're similar but it's not the same don't you see him in there yeah i do i told mitchell that we're going to cut down a christmas tree so we're just going to go get an axe and i want to cut it down do you want an axe yeah i want to use an axe like do it like the old fashioned way like old people want to okay so i guess that's going to be an upcoming video later this year maybe we'll take uncle rob out and do a field and do donuts and cut down a christmas tree yeah yeah you can count on that one i'm gonna probably bring something else besides an axe because i don't think that i think that we can do it don't do it if the process okay well are you gonna do it or are we gonna do it whenever you don't wanna do it anymore i wanna try okay so you'll take like three swings as long as it's not like they're really big heavy one axes are heavy you mean yeah not all of them are heavy my dad had one that was like three feet long and really heavy and i hated that one yeah that's most axes well it doesn't need to be that heavy are you sure you don't want to hatch it i don't know i just want to cut it down myself okay i want to try how about a saw no fine maybe you know that's like the last resort okay well we'll get both of them when you get too tired you just want to hack it the rest of the way down now what um we keep driving we're about three and a half hours away from great bend well here's an interesting combo for the middle of kansas for you a sonic and a loves that is interesting diesel's 328 out here of course truck stops always gouge you but we're making progress we are i don't know almost there but need diesel let's go check on the straps see if they're doing all right these ones look good too after the strap broke i realized that there were a couple cutouts in the shock brackets there for that whole thing that almost looked like they were for tow hooks like for tow trucks and stuff so i thought i wonder if this will fit in here and it did i could have been doing this for years and i didn't i'm sure they're on the escalade too i think we just made a new discovery here oh yeah uncle rob got rear-ended by an uninsured non-citizen and finished off this here tow hitch which was pretty much gone anyway but you know oh dang it yeah literally told you i bet we can like punch it in half yeah well pablo did fill up old elvis hit the road to tell the people the dad joke that you just told me okay i got a pretty good dad joke here what kind of car do amish people drive a toyota [Music] is town called yoder a few miles back and it was just full of amish like bugs it was like a whole amish community yeah it was cool it reminded me of like white truth like where's the beet farm farms yeah it's just like sod disappointing did you see moe's running across the field i don't know he might have been driving that carriage we saw that's very possible some of my favorite roads out here you guys know i'm weird i like driving through kansas i think this is great i just i enjoy the flatness and the scenery and i don't know everything about it it's just it feels very free out here i like it this area that's also a big plus some of you people who have been around kansas more than me probably confirm or deny this but is the stinky part of kansas just like the western part i think it's just the western part where they do like a water like slaughtering yeah yeah the one time i drove to colorado from missouri uh it didn't get stinky until the western part everything else seems to smell okay i don't know the turn at night these things will catch you off guard because you'll just be hollering and oh my god i have to turn for the first time in 15 miles and you're just you know you're not prepared for it so i always glance back and forth at the map on my phone you know kind of like a rally driver just to make sure that i'm ready to turn if i have to turn we're about 45 minutes from great bend i think uh once we get there we'll find a walmart or something and get provisions for our cooler tomorrow that way we don't have to do anything in the morning but eight miles continue straight then we don't have to do anything in the morning but yeah the hotel and head to the track get some food we will be prepared i also got to edit this video tonight upload it and schedule it for the morning so i'm going to have a video up every day this week you hold me to it there will be a video that will go live at 8 or 8 30 in the morning central time every day during race week that's my promise to you am i gonna get it done yeah you will you're damn right well we made it to walmart and great bend we're gonna go in get some stuff get prepared go check into the hotel and uh if you're and give some turbo that gives a little turbo a little cool down for a while so you know just shut it off with hot oil in there that was much better drive than the last time yeah yeah cause we went around the traffic no vomit to clean that was nice yes that was nice also when mitchell farted i couldn't even smell it because when ruger was puking he put a black ice air freshener on the little handle yeah yeah i didn't like smelling the dog food so we stopped got some of those and put them everywhere now it's fart masking it's great well good thing i scrubbed all the bugs off because we got a bunch more it looks like i hit a bird is he still in there is the question i don't think so i don't think so you know a thing or two about hitting birds yeah john told me to not touch it and just leave it and it'll fall off at some point so i did that and when when my dad saw it he was pissed he wanted me to pick it apart the skeleton yeah was it just a skeleton by that point yeah you could just see beak yeah logan hit a bird in that ice door yeah in the ice storm during the texas ice storm and it was there until like less than a few weeks ago it just deteriorated it was just a skeleton wedged in your grill so yeah it'll fall off eventually good job elvis you made it so we got our provisions and uh you know we got some ice some of it's gonna melt but we're gonna have everything pretty cool for tomorrow i feel like that's ultimate dad move is to pre-cool your cooler the day before and then just top it off in the morning that way everything is already cold yeah put a couple in there yeah we got green ones too we got all kinds of stuff we got so many snacks and drinks and stuff that we got a whole other bin to put them in because every day before we make a pass we're going to take everything out so figured let's grab another bin we can put all our stuff in there i even got me a jar of peanut butter in case we eat breakfast at like you know waffle house or ihop or something gotta have that yeah pop-tart bites because um i think logan is secretly a 12 year old sometimes no no denial either i know i am these green monsters taste like sweet tarts if anybody likes sweet tarts not sponsored by monster but i would be open to it oh the random bottle of wine that's floating around in there still yeah that's from my birthday left over from yellow belly that's funny when i drew a dick on it yeah we can put some water in there too yeah we already have a case opening educate the people you do this so the animal still gets they're stuck their head stuck in them die you're so caring we are going to be ready freddy should be on it with the dad jokes this week yeah i'm glad we took the seats out for the extra room it just makes things so much easier and we're not gonna no there's nobody with us anyway fun fact you can see some handwriting here i don't know if you guys can see that but there's writing in the dust that says mitchell was here 11 27 13. i did that when my uncle was at our house for thanksgiving in 2013. and he never cleaned the windows it's still there i don't know if you guys can see it or not i can kind of see it through the glare here but i can't tell if you can see on the gopro but it's there if you ever see an uncle robin person i invite you to look at that window because that's a piece of history right there [Music] just just i just noticed that now yeah he uh i guess ruger projectile vomited onto the door and we didn't see it last cleaning up all the other weekend yeah no that's funny i mean it's quite smelly you know i couldn't smell it either we are loaded up ready to go no more throw up on the door we are all set off of the hotel so there's a good bit of people at this hotel cluster already because there's only like four freaking hotels in great bend kansas uh missed it i actually pulled in there i realized it was a dead end and had to um you know do do do do to get back out it was kind of fun i wanted to film it but i felt like i was in the way trying to figure that out so i didn't but you guys can imagine old elvis doing the dance in the parking lot to not jackknife and get out everybody's probably like what is this guy trailering or freaking stock yukon that don't even know they don't know i think some of them know because i've done them from race weeks and frag weeks prior but most of them are probably like this freaking guy look at this guy he isn't even he's not fast they will see they will see if this is your first time seeing the channel uh make sure you're subscribed with notifications on if
