Reunited After 13 Years! Meet the New Budget Turbo Project (03 GMC Yukon XL Sleeper Build)

What happens here

The speaker performs an initial walk-around inspection of the exterior of the 2003 GMC Yukon XL. He points out existing wear and tear, including minor branch scuffs and surface rust near the rear wheel well, noting its relatively good condition for a vehicle from a 'Rust Belt' area. He also highlights original custom features installed by his father, such as an early 2003 backup camera integrated into the license plate frame and a non-matching repainted panel on the rear bumper. He expresses his intention to keep these features for sentimental reasons.

Goal: Evaluate the vehicle's current condition and identify key historical features

like all the everything's still here exactly how my dad left it my uncle never changed anything he just drove it there was the the og 95 suburban that i was like obsessed with when i was little and my dad got rid of that in 2003 when he bought this i didn't like this thing because it was the one that replaced the one that i liked so i was like you know i didn't hate it but it never really had like a special place with me because it was always the one that got rid of my favorite one he had this 03 207 end of 07 2008 pretty much when he bought a 2008 suburban that 2008 suburban eventually became my pseudo-first car when i got my driver's license and was kind of what you know got ball rolling and all that stuff where i started messing with plasti dip and whatever but when he bought that 08 suburban he sold this one to my uncle who has been driving it since then so for 12 years this has been my uncle's truck he lived in maryland until recently so it didn't see a whole lot of salt i mean it saw it not as much as it would have here but it's not in terrible shape it's not in great shape either it's got some uh it's got some wear and tear i don't even know how many miles are on it honestly i think it's like 150 000. you know we got some branch scuffs and this is the only body rust i've noticed and this wasn't even here a couple years ago last time i remember looking at this thing my dad had this backup camera on there in this like pioneer head unit and my uncle got rid of the head unit because he thought it was annoying but he just left the camera license plate frame so this is straight out of 2003. it's still there i'm gonna leave it there the camera doesn't work but it has to stay there just because it's it's part of the heritage at this point all the wires are still in there this panel here does not match because uh it got dinged somehow my dad had it and he actually painted this in our garage i remember kind of helping him do it i didn't really help him i was watching him and he's like oh it doesn't match because this is lacquer and the regular paints enamel or something it's good enough that you don't really notice it because the only evidence of my dad ever working on a car that i had ever seen him do ever is this panel right here it's not
