What happens here
This project details the challenging and potentially dangerous process of felling a large, leaning tree that poses a risk to nearby structures. It involves careful planning for the tree's fall direction, the use of a chainsaw, a ladder for initial cuts, and a skid steer for both pushing the tree and clearing fallen branches. Proper safety precautions, including using heavy machinery and appropriate footwear, are emphasized.

(13,107 characters)all right good morning you guys new pair of boots showed up and in full disclosure keane sent me these because they want you guys to see them i guess they call them troy's i don't know looks like what's on it what i do know about these and i heard about these like i don't know a year ago they have bellows in them so if you like keen boots you may like these better if you don't like keen boots you still may not like them they may not make any difference i don't oh the smell of booze okay so let's check this out this is the secret right here and what that does it allows the toe to flex without pinching on the top of your foot so if you are one of those guys that has that as an issue well there you go let's see what it says here that let's just let's just read to you what they say the next generation of flex let us bend your ear for a minute we're flexing big time you like that gracie on american ingenuity meet the newest boot in our hard-working arsenal the troy built proudly by some very hard-working men and women right in our own hometown of portland oregon thanks to the game-changing innovation of keane bellows flex this boot is the most flexible safety boot available today it's built tough like you it's designed to bend and flex so when you're in a pinch on the job site your feet won't be well the problem is i'm gonna do the dumb thing and try to break these in today and i'm gonna probably do another dumb thing and i'm gonna try to knock down a really tall really dangerous treat and i already hear you guys stand just leave it to the professionals but what fun is that no honestly we were never raised to uh be quitters frankie and i are gonna give it a go the worst thing that could happen is i could drop it on my cabin that's not actually a joke it's leaning right over my cabin and here's the situation we drop it the wrong way it hits that we drop it a different wrong way which the way it's leaning it's leaning right towards the cabin and another row of trees which if it hits those is gonna take out my neighbor's cabin so why not just do it on your own right that sounds like something you should tackle so that's what we're gonna go try to do today looks like mother nature's giving us the truck wash today sometime in the future you can do it [Music] ah any of you guys want to uh want the key to my strap organization system the key to my strap organization is actually a 12 page full pdf system but if you don't want to download that you kind of want the short version of it it goes something like this close your eyes throw the straps in the truck and drive away dirt monkey nobody does that you need to be better organized there's a lot of things i need to be better at trust me oh there's so many rocks and dirt in this fifth rail system [Music] hey one of the things if you guys run back plows every single year check your mount system to your truck if it's a short iron check the hitches we found nose loose one year if it's a snow power check the fifth rail this is how your your back plow hangs on your truck check that we found those loose on another truck i mean it's just inevitable you drive them year round those right those nuts and bolts are gonna jiggle draw the loose and if you run a boss backdrag pro 180z or the other one check that mount system as well man you're ultimately responsible if something happens to your truck while it's going down the road even if somebody else installed the system as soon as you drive away with it it becomes your issue hey i got an i got an off-the-wall question for you guys have you seen any good movies lately i watched uh the hitman's bodyguard's wife or whatever with ryan reynolds you know the dude from deadpool that's all right okay but i did see a really good flick i think it was on am amazon amazon prime the war for tomorrow with chris pratt you don't see it advertised you don't see nothing about it but i looked up the reviews on it they had like 25 000 reviews and all of them were like almost five stars and i'm like whoa what the heck is this i turned it on dang good flick dang good flick and if you got amazon prime it doesn't cost you a dime we're gonna hook the truck to the tree we're going to put the skid loader on the other side i mean really we've got to get a lot of control over the way this tree falls flows one of the things we got to be really careful is i can't a rocking chair i think is what they call it we gotta be careful of a rocking chair and let me just point out what we're gonna be doing and one of the dangers that we gotta be really careful of uh let's just imagine that the tree's leaning this way so we're gonna and we gotta pull it that way for some reason okay so we're gonna hook the truck up that way we're gonna put the skid loader over on the opposite side and push and the rocking chair is when it breaks and snaps the bottom half can kick up right so if the trunk if it snaps you cut it right here so this is the tree and that and the tree starts to fall the bottom half can literally go poof like that and kick out it happens it's dangerous so if we were pulling it this way and i'm pushing with the loader this way and we cut here this part of it can actually go as the top as the bottom goes down that's one of the dangers that in my mind i'm thinking got to be careful of [Music] dudes and dude axe do you guys ever ever ever have a chance to get a trailer with a stillwell jack i've never met the stillwell people they don't pay me to say this but i may name my grandchildren after them i love this thing such a nice you guys oh my god especially if you're starting to get older like me oh my god that is one of those things that you will love [Music] that oil looks like it needs to be changed all right well i do have a pretty low back tire and i got two options one i can fill it up or two i can just not use it and just do wheelies all day long but i'm not jake hatch from black sheep skid so i think i'll just fill it up this is what i use in my secret war against deflated tires milwaukee makes one i think skill makes one i don't know if dewalt makes one or not i don't have that one the cords right on the back right here right are you kidding me 80 psi cold punch it in and then you go up to the psi that you want it to go to i'm supposed to go to 80 on these tires but like i said we're gonna go to 60. boom you hit the go button and then you go walk away because it's gonna take about five or ten minutes for it to do what it's got to do but you're not sitting there holding it you're not pulling the thing off checking with an air pressure gauge it just does the whole thing for you okay guys so here's a very real dilemma that you guys don't usually get to see and videos maybe people don't address but i need the forks where i'm going and i need to get the weight distributed the right way on this trailer now i can flip the skiddle loader around and put the back of the skid loader in the back of the trailer that's going to be the safe way to get this skid steer up these ramps but that's going to put a lot of the weight on the tongue of the truck okay i actually want the center mass of my machine balanced right over these wheels and in a perfect world that would be that would mean driving it up i'm going to try the perfect world scenario first but i don't think it's going to work very well because i'm too i don't have a bucket on i'm too light in the i'm too heavy in the butt too light in the front now if i really wanted to work hard at it i could pop them forks off flip them around pull the machine forward slide the forks underneath and get the weight distributed a little bit better i am tongue heavy you can see i'm dragging right there of course anytime you want a fork to fall off it won't [Music] you starting to pick up what i'm putting down now i've got the forks off which gives me enough room to bring that center weight of that machine forward so i can get that load a little bit better balanced that's not a lot of difference but my chains are no longer dragging on the ground my truck's no longer squatting i get us my center mass directly right over that front tire forward of the tongue 10 to 15 percent of your load should be on your tongue in the ideal world why are you out of breath and sweating so hard in the morning you feel like somebody's got a garden hose with hot water and it's instantly just spraying you the whole day you're working it's like being misted with hot water and no air you're like huh [Music] [Applause] so this this is the tree right here and the trunk is leaning right toward the cabin and this is where i was saying if we try to take this so she also leans this way and that way the two worst possible ways that could possibly lean it is what it's doing and if we just try to drop it right here we'd have to get it right between the cabin there and those trees because if we hit those we could knock them down and create a domino effect so then the question is do we try to take this big sucker out that way maybe we pull maybe we try to drop it right toward that cabin that's probably our best spot since it's already leaning this way we're just gonna try to convince her to not we're gonna try to convince it to go down that way i think that's the that'll be the plan well i think i think if we pull it this way we're gonna need the truck yeah down there down there but then that was thinking you might wanna how are you gonna go any further use a tall tree it's gonna be as long as you did i know i know i mean it's not perfect that's why i brought the skid loader too to give it a push i wonder if i should put i brought the forks but i wonder if i should throw the bucket on so i get a better bite on that tree i don't want a fork to pop off slide off while it's moving this is what i was going to put up up on top up there this one ain't good even though i got a knot in there it's still in greentown park okay i wanna i'm gonna pull the rope up so i'm gonna pull the ladder before we set it up go your way yeah look at one grass hey we gotta go up higher the one [Applause] yeah come my way there back okay [Music] all right i'll go grab the rope from the other side [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right my thoughts is with the bucket i could put the entire edge up there and not have a fork point on it the only reason i brought the forks is just because it gave me the ability to step back a little bit more from it but hey it is what it is let's go get the machine in place while frankie's getting the rope in place [Applause] [Music] uh [Music] ah [Music] um [Music] so [Music] ah hey we want to get that ladder down before well not yet well what if and to try to get her to fall not on the cabin instead of we're not going to pull this way we're going to pull the opposite way [Music] okay wow [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] ah [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] couldn't god but it's better than that oh there we go i put that one camera out there about five feet away from where i figured you're gonna drop her yeah let's go see how i did let's go see how we did nice bunch of pole locks with chainsaws all right we got all our fingers and toes man oh there we go we got it yeah we got her nice too far from where we figured i put one camera at once where i thought it was going to drop and branch hit it and broke my camera and smash it to pieces so glad i didn't break this one he's interested in you know cutting whatever length he wanted then you know yeah i know he can come get it himself all right you guys well that's it for today's video we got the tree down everybody's safe we all got to keep our nose pickers in good shape and i'm guessing some of you guys wanted to know what i thought of these boots cause i mean it's the end of the day and i use them all day long and my first impressions are super comfortable like sliding into a pair of slippers they're kind of squishy now some guys like squishy boots and some guys don't like squishy boots i love squishy boots man then these things are super comfortable no extra insoles in them nothing a little warm what are they what's their insulation i don't know how many grams of insulation these things have assembled with pride in portland or oregon using the finest materials from around the world but it doesn't tell you how many grams of insulation it has keen dry waterproof so i mean my feet are completely dry they're not sweating so i don't know i guess uh initial first day impressions i've had much worse boots and i would put these in my top five favorite pairs of all time and the other uh a few of the other ones three of the two of the other ones are keane's also the chicago's and the portlands and now you can add the choice in there so three out of my five favorite boots now happen to be canes and that's all i got for you today guys i hope whatever you're doing you stay safe i hope it goes better than you ever imagined and i hope all of you guys get to keep your nose pickers in good shape god bless you guys go get em we'll catch you at another one [Music]
