one two three four [Music] that looks like an interesting radar system doesn't it well this is going to be one of those days where we could have adventures i don't know what we're going to be doing um you know normally when we start the day in the morning good morning gracie how are you normally when i start the day i have an idea of what we're be getting into today i don't have the foggiest clue of what we're gonna be getting into we're gonna go help a friend of mine that i haven't seen in quite a long time install a fence on his farm and he's got a new toro dingo i think he's bringing out i don't know what all we're gonna be doing what the equipment is it's gonna be a mystery until we get there so let's get going [Music] today's video is not for you experienced farmers or people that grew up on farms we're not going to be showing you anything that you guys don't already know but today's video is for those guys maybe that they work in a city they work in an office they've never had a chance to go out and install fencing be on a farm experience what that kind of life is like and so we're going to just take you out we're going to show you what a different kind of lifestyle is we're going to install barbed wire fencing we're going to install electric fencing hopefully we're just going to take you away from wherever you are and show you just a different experience and hopefully you just enjoy the ride that's the goal for today [Music] i think we're here on your left there we go windy hill maybe this is it i don't know never been here guys we're getting the custom parking spot chris is lining us up good morning how are you good chris how are you doing good you made it yeah nice trip nice trip it wasn't too bad actually and i like the i like the the fog that'll keep us we won't cook yeah yeah it doesn't it's supposed to be breezy and we're gonna be right down on the bottom of the corn kid all right let's go check out what we're doing okay chris can you show us is this the tractor we're going to be using today from this one and we have it sawyer's going to get his out in a minute guys i'd like you to meet sawyer sawyer meet the guy say hi to the guys hi and the one girl that watches my channel and this is my buddy chris from a long time ago we didn't even want to talk about how long we've known 30 years i think or more so we're going to be using the tractor and the mt-100 together and installing fence yep and then another sawyer's going to get his tractor out it's back in the shed back there okay and it's and this is how we unwind the yeah the barbed wire so you've got it set up back here yeah so we'll hook it up to the one end and then he'll just slowly drive and it'll unwind and we'll get to the other end and put the stretcher on it perfect stretch it and then we start after the first one after the first run is in then we put our t-posts in you got a nice messy ferguson back there too yeah that's that's a 72 1100 looks like you've done some work on it not too much on that one i haven't done that does it run oh god yeah yeah i mean i mean i just i'm looking at updates i'm looking at little little things that you did uh i mean that doesn't this looks like this can't be the original stop right it is there was actually one more step on it someone cut it off before i got it i can't believe it's in that good of shape though yeah i found that down by mankato about eight years ago huh so this is where i used to ride with my dad now i'm riding how old are you sawyer nine now i'm riding with sawyer except we never had to change the barbed wire on the back [Music] god i love that sound oh all right hey what's this deal chris this is my this is how i do my corners for instead of wood like this that's all rotted out the rot's out in about five years they take a cattle panel put it in a circle fill it with rock and they never move how long has that been there i just did this one this spring okay but i have some over on the other side that you'll be able to see when we get down to the other end that have been in for about four years and that barbwayer is like a banjo yet [Laughter] oh my god that's a that's an awesome idea yeah well the amish has been doing it for years okay so that's that's where we're going to replace this fence from this rock pile to that rock pile that's the stretch we're gonna do okay [Music] so if you guys see sawyer in the background he's actually double fisting cameras he grabbed one of my cameras to help videotape this video but he also has his own channel and i'll tell you what that is in just a moment so he's filming on his channel in one hand and filming on my channel in another [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] yeah right here yeah uh yeah you have to get her down almost to the bottom we're gonna get the t-bars completely clear right yep okay so no wire on either side hooked up correct so we got the fence out yep we got the fence out we got two posts done and now uh we're gonna put sawyer on the tractor and we're gonna tie off the first one to the top here he's gonna drive down to the other end stan's gonna bring the mt-100 and we're gonna stretch it down at the other end and then we're on our way back we're gonna push some posts in okay am i gonna fit all the way back yep hey sawyer it's rough i'm just telling you right now your grandpa's telling you it's smooth over there lying to you so sawyer has his own youtube channel and it's called soybob gaming right soyboy gaming right so if you like gaming there's an option for you this is my kind of game right here though so the top one will be up and we'll have the top one attached to all the posts before we even run the second one okay then it's on the ground stretch it put it on next one doesn't get tangled up in it because this stuff are we doing three or four runs we're doing three of these okay and then just one and one electric one electric okay and like any true youtuber so you can't put that camera down [Music] sawyer's getting the one-handed camera operation down check it out that's no that's fine just stay right there [Music] if any of you guys know of a really good rock picking attachment i think chris's farm would be the perfect test grounds rocky ground this might be a little better because this was chilled up hey chris one of the things i want to point out to the guys on the camera is um we're going 18 to 20 feet apart for their posts right and in the beginning what i was doing is i was just trying to use the weight of the machine to push him down this isn't heavy enough right i mean the reason and i want to point out the reason that i do that is inside of our company i learned a long time ago that if my guys get used to banging on the hydraulics pretty soon they're banging everything everything and it's hard on the seals oh yeah you'll blow the seals off so that's why i'm just used to pushing right but this works better so it does well in the ground yeah and it's not like we're gonna be doing it all day and it's a rental [Laughter] one that i have to fix will be great run ready now we gotta we gotta walk down put the clips on okay on this strand so that it's up and out of the way um okay when we do and we'll straighten them kind of straight in the post as we go we got a little bit of an arc but that's okay looks pretty good for a lick and stick lineup job so there's a farmer that i follow out of south dakota for these clips they weld a little metal hook on this so that when oh there's their pain and i'm i'd have to go back and watch but i think what he does is he grabs it here and there's a little piece of metal that comes around here so that when he flips it around that little metal piece grabs onto it and flips it around but i just go like so hmm seems to work do you got an extra set of pliers [Music] you don't need the pliers chris nope you just twist it together when it's pulled tight it'll twist itself against each other okay never come undone yeah actually you guys are missing the best part of farming and that's the smells the smell of the tractor the smell of the fields the smell of the animals second run let's find out how many we go down from the first rock going down about seven notches seven down okay [Music] dog learning the tractor paying attention to the wheel and i didn't look in front of me and i hit the fence closed we didn't we had a wooden guy roll one tip it back up and fire fired up and it locked the cylinders took the injectors out he didn't let the oil drain down didn't he didn't know did he oh knock the head bolts up and stretch the head bolts yeah junk so if you do roll them what's the proper procedure i wasn't i was told to just let it set and let all the oil drain down past the rings right what we do what i did once because we wanted to get the machine back is i went out pulled all the injectors out and then spun it over and it pushed everything out the injector holes so that it cleared it okay injectors back in i was able to run it enough to get it on the trailer hang out that way right there don't let it go do you like to go mid-height yeah i'm gonna go in between these two okay because that's about where the the cattle are eating and then we're gonna you can see how the insulators stick out from the poles okay just before they get their nose to the wire here they'll bump that electric wire so they're not getting cut and this will go through this other part of this insulator so now it's not in contact with this wire at all and then i'll put a t-post there then we'll jump off of this to an insulator and a t-post and over to the electric wire on that fence run it without getting hurt okay [Music] so don't screw it up is what you're saying right so when they're not depending upon the insulator so that's what they look like so you come around one side it snaps there snap it on boom that's it that's it simple something so this is the tool so i'm going to hook this up to the insulator uh off the wire off the insulator and then this tool i can reel it around and then tighten it and pull it tight cool plus if it ever comes loose you can come down and just tension this a little more so you don't have to undo the whole thing re-stretch it right so it just like i said it makes makes life a little a little bit more efficient i guess you could say probably tell you that i did it wrong of course you've always got people that know a better way to do it and that's fine and that's fine and that's why i've learned a lot of this stuff too is just by watching some of the now if you go too much you can twist the sucker right off yeah so then we come around this now we've got to make sure we stay on the ceramic and not touching any part of that wire because that wears attached to the metal and then that would and that would ground it out and make it not work then we can take our tool then you're just kind of feeling it and you know it's getting and you can feel like i have some more insulators to put on there's about four of them but it'll stretch a little bit then i'll check it next time i'm down this way and if it needs it i'll just tighten it up a little bit so what we're doing is we're going to come around with the electric fence and hook back in without touching this is just what they call a electric electric gate handle so it's actually spring loaded um on this end so that i i can do it somewhat short and then turn it over use the spring inside use the spring inside to hold the tension but really this doesn't have to hold anything but this two runs of wire because it's just got to make an electrical connection we're just completing the circuit the circuit yeah so i just get it somewhat close because i know i can stretch it oh do you have it connected on the other side this is hot oh that's hot yep oh so we still got it oh right now it's hot that's hot yep like 1.2 okay so somewhere i i have a short somewhere so it should read about seven days okay but somewhere along the way i'll have to ride it later on this afternoon what are you going to look for um what happens deer will jump he'll hit that wire or get tangled in the barbed wire and knock it off see if i take if i was to take that and just get it caught in there i'd come over here it wouldn't even register so if i have something to fix i just take a rubber handle pliers across it to the barbed wire then i can fix on the back side of that you know we did it on the farm have you ever seen it where they use fluorescent bulbs oh sure they stick them in so and you can see a blinking when it every time it goes every time i go so what i'm saying is you guys probably haven't seen this but you can use an actual fluorescent tube stick part of it right there and then the other part just in the ground so it's grounded and you actually have a visual cue all along until sometimes working until something breaks your and then you get fluorescent bulb juice on your pasture so did you just say we had one more hour of work left we'd have to take a 30 minute break you do know farming is not a union job yeah exactly sawyer's like i don't think i like the sound of that huh huh the heck these guys these guys don't like the sound of it either they keep laying down on the job knock it off you guys i'm not laying down i'm talking about the camera keeps flopping doing the crappie floppy on me the camera doesn't want to work either maybe you and the camera needs a break it's almost like you're hitting the edge of something there we go there we go nice now we got it [Music] all right so we can connect these up right well 20 posts to just into the corn so 20 times 20 is 400 400 heavy and probably at least another 150 so probably five five hundred five hundred feet five to six hundred feet not bad that's not a bad day's work i like your guess though sawyer would be nice if we got a thousand feet in well it could take 500 times three we did 1500 1500 feet yeah and then that times four because of the electric electric we can make them numbers look better right all right i got the invite to drive the big boy tractor this time that's a cool tractor that's that the mtd is nice or whatever you call it but the british leland yeah british motor corporation made it over in england it's about a 70 horse diesel the only thing you don't even know the joystick is just like like your truck like your back holes echo okay um so that's your bucket controls right yep bucket tilt and arms okay this has to be a neutral to start it um that's a fuel shut off so yeah just start it and then right now you're in high range so whatever i plays you running so you got clutch and clutch and brakes okay can i ask you guys a question because you guys run an animal rescue right what is it called lucky paws midwest lucky paws and you guys have you were telling me a story that you can't make it up can you retell me that story so these guys will know oh sure um we had a call come in that some animals needed some help and um it was from a hospital in this area and the police department was living in a car in a car so you they called you that you had animals living in in a car okay someone had been admitted to the hospital and that um these animals would have to be removed from the vehicle and it was november in november it was pretty cold so first they went in to take them out and found that there were two large blue and gold macaws two sugar gliders living in a car car not a van they were not a van but they were living in a pillow sack the honey the sugar gliders were okay and they had started to self-mutilate oh my gosh um because they were stressed and there were three dogs and one cat all right all right let's go check these out so blue and gold macaws living in a car in november you rescued them with two dogs two sugar gliders three dogs three dogs a cat two two sugar gliders and these two birds that we're about to go see living in a car these guys rescued she's about an eight-year-old white german shepherd oh my gosh she's gorgeous oh don't let my wife see that dog so their names are what fred and wilma and then we've got a noisy cockatiel but look at these guys if they were separated he might not be as aggressive because they're just trying to protect each other yeah yeah it looks you can tell these guys are trying to protect each other all right so if you guys are in the market for a blue and gold macabre go to lucky paws midwest because they got a a pair there they need a home all right chris thank you for letting me invade your farm you're very welcome but he invited me back excellent absolutely what are we going to be doing hand yes teach them how to run a v-rank and a baler a role mailer but i have not had a chance to go hand since i was a little bit older than sawyer and you've probably never run our own baylor either nope never ran around basically they're easy oh this is going to be awesome yeah we'll do that in october so that's our video for here so you guys let me know what you think and as always i appreciate you guys hitting that like button thank you so much all right god bless go get em guys
