What happens here

Once the pilot hole is drilled, switch to an impact driver fitted with a suitable screwdriver bit. Place a washer onto the screw before inserting it into the pilot hole. Drive the screw through the wooden brace and securely into the concrete. The washer helps to distribute the pressure of the screw head, preventing it from pulling through the wood and providing a stronger, more reliable anchor point for the brace.

Goal: Fasten the wooden brace firmly to the concrete surface.
