Deep Excavation and Soil Management

Pond Build Time Lapse
What happens here
The excavator continues to deepen the pond, digging down to the bedrock to create a stable base for water retention. The process involves systematically removing large quantities of soil and rocks. The operator explains the challenge of handling large boulders (some "nearly as big as a small car") that are encountered during digging. He demonstrates how the excavator's bucket is used to rake the earth forward to create a wider, traversable path around the pond's edge, allowing the machine to reposition. Excavated soil is stockpiled for future use, such as building a pond dam. The existing pipe crossing, which serves as a temporary water bypass, is maintained. The operator notes the importance of a spring-fed source for clean water and the abundance of rocks, which gives the farm its name.
Goal: Excavate the pond to its intended depth and manage displaced soil and rocks.
