What happens here
Once the coop is in its new location and all other chores are done, place the "chicken shack" (brooder box) back inside the mobile coop. Carefully lower the heat lamp into its designated hole on the brooder's lid, ensuring the electrical cord is fed through any cut-out notches to keep it tidy and prevent crimping. The heat lamp provides essential warmth for the chicks during cold periods. According to the creator, the heat lamp is typically only plugged in and activated when nighttime temperatures are expected to drop below 33°F (0.56°C). This approach helps to gradually acclimate the birds to cooler weather conditions, making them more resilient.
Goal: Provide a warm shelter for the chicks during cold periods.
