Once the first coat of paint is completely dry to the touch, proceed with applying the second coat of Sherwin-Williams Emerald Trim Enamel. Dip the paintbrush into the paint, ensuring to remove any excess by wiping it against the edge of the can. Apply an even, smooth layer along the trim using controlled strokes. The painter notes that the second coat often goes on faster than the first, especially on surfaces that were previously painted. Pay close attention to ensure full coverage and a consistent finish, particularly on new or primed trim and areas that were previously repaired with fillers like Bondo, as these specifically require two coats for optimal results, as stated by the painter.
