Painting Tools: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

this Christy Idaho hater here on P live TV today I got another tool talk Tuesday for you and that's Tuesday when we talk about new tools that I've seen and used and you may not be able touching this video on Tuesday so it's when we post the videos on Tuesdays so I've got three tools products in front of me I want to share with you and one of them I feel obligated to share it right away so I wanted to make this one of my next tool talk Tuesday's and that's this product right here because I bought this thing on a flash sale either on Instagram or Facebook and I knew it wasn't give me something I use but I thought it was pretty funny watching them to demonstrate this thing and I got him out and it's way worse than I ever thought it would be and I don't want anybody else to spend their money on this and be unfortunate like I did and I'm waste $25 another tool is our product is Gator eyes so these are magnetic LED lights and you can see you right there there's all kinds of crazy uses you can use these things for I'm a fisherman so in the evening time I do like do time I've wise when it starts to get dark on the river because I just can't stop fishing so that's Gator eyes right here magnetic LED lights and then there's one other product I want to show you and this two o'clock Tuesday and that is the sprayer saver right here this is a must-have tool if you do any type of airless spray that's what it does right there I'm going to show you and talk about that and talk about these tools these three tools right here till the top Tuesday so stay tuned for this new tool talk Tuesday to save you from wasting your money or spending your money wisely on some really good tools I'm gonna start off I will start off with this tool right here and I guess we can call it a tool or a toy or just plain garbage I'm not sure which one but this was a device and it was my saw once again like on a flash sale I can't either Instagram or Facebook and then you you know hit that button to buy it and it was 2395 and you know I knew who it's gonna be something kind of interesting when I got it but I'll tell you the first problem I ran into was getting it I actually forgot I even bought it until several months later I realized I never received the thing so then I went to PayPal and thousands of spute saying I never received the product which then the company replied saying they were gonna send it and so tracking information was sent and it get eventually received it like three months later so if you think you're gonna receive this tool and receive it at hurry you're not going to so now it did come packaged just like this this is probably one of the most unprofessional ways to package a product they could break anything could possibly happen to it there is no from address or anything so kind of like no business name or anything so a little bit interesting and says time-sensitive material even though it took three months to get it wasn't necessarily fine sensitive but what this thing is I'll show you it's a roller to roll paint and the the one thing that's interesting were the very first questions you probably should ask yourself well I'll show you what it does you take off the lid right here and you fill it full of paint so you fill it full of paint and you know one of the questions you be asking yourself is well how does it release the page but we'll get to that a little bit later so here's the roller if you need any refills I don't think you're gonna get any refills anytime soon so here it is this is the roller it's got a reservoir pour your paint inside close the back up start rolling your paint and your page is gonna magically come out but like the photographer and he has the very first question that her mouse was ahead of her mouth not mouse but mouth was how do you control the release of the paint was a great question how do you control the release of the paint while you're rolling like on the power roller or the hitter fed roller from tightening great gum you squeeze the trigger hair the square releases paint as you go there is no way to release your pain it's just going to magically come out when you need it apparently but just inspecting the device it's obviously got dents and indentations because it probably sat on a shelf for an extremely long period of time it has a major seam right here this is kind of like I don't know how to describe it like a carpet or like a blue or something like that fuzzy whatever way you want to call it it's like like a sixteenth of an inch pile but it's got this major seam right there and as you're rolling and you can feel that seam large bump if you ever get like a rock in your your roller is your rolling or any type of fee like any type of debris that's part of a bump bump bump bump you're gonna get that bumping effect as you roll when you're using this thing it's gonna leave a stripe across where you roll because of that big massive seam right there well there are other issues too besides that this piece of plastic is probably the cheapest piece of plastic you you could possibly use on a tool and if you step on it it's gonna break it you sit on it it's going to break it there's gonna be all kinds of issues it is kind of just like tension you'll release I'm going to sit here and do we'll put it back on we're gonna load our peanut we got to show you even actually works here soon but I just load up my paint put it inside there now I'm gonna put it let's see actually you've got to since I'm a novice at this device you got to put it in and then put your lid back on and then you gotta put this side on it to secure it but now here's another thing I mean you want to roam all day with this in your hand probably not you're probably gonna loan it it's attached to an extension pole so I got an extension over the standard threading for an extension pole and I noticed it does not screw in even though it has threads the in inner diameter the ID is too small for a standard extension also unfortunately it's not going to attach to an extension will so you're going to have to just roll with this all day long it's--there's I can't even say it enough of how bad of a quality and the tool this is but you know hey even the quality this construction if it's super bad maybe the functionality maybe actually does function and doesn't work so we're gonna put it to the test right here in the paint life Academy and see if it works I've got some touch-ups on the wall I got to do right over here so we're gonna put some paint in there and see how this thing actually magically you release its paint cuz in the video where I saw it I'm not sure if they're gonna be able to find that flash sale again I'm gonna say probably sold out of these amazing devices you know I had an hour to but I'm just not quite sure how it's just gonna release pain just wink you just need it as you're rolling and then you know as you're going how do you you refill it and without get paint on yes I don't know we'll get to that let's jump on to you another two let's just go on to a tool that's actually you were spending the money and that's the sprayer saver so we got a sprayer save it right here and this device all its it just it's very simple when I'm out spraying on the jobsite typically what I'm doing is my five gallon bucket have always gotten a cake in a five-gallon bucket whether it's a single or you five and you'll start to run low on pay and what happens is your intake tube will start to stock your hair and we're always trying to lean our 5 gallon buckets up whether it's got a single setting inside of it or the paint is just in the 5 I'm gonna be looking for a rag I'm going to be looking for a copy gun something to support this so it will lean or that's maybe what this thing could possibly be used for it's a sprayer saver it only constitutes 23 you know 95 to do that but now all your paint moves to one side of the five-gallon bucket and your intake tube sits down there and it's less likely to suck air while you're up on a ladder and sucking hair is a bad thing for your sprayer it's gonna wear out the packings and stuff like that sprayer saver your 5 gallon bucket set secure the problem with the caulking finding rocks something like that your bucket is insecure I can't tell you how many times it's tipped over we spilled a boss page this sets in there it's nice secures got a big flat surface not only does it hold a five-gallon bucket well it's others that size buckets they'll hold even a gallon bucket so the sprayer saver it's 999 great tool I just saw this thing on in Las Vegas at the National Hardware Show last year I thought it was great I wanted them for you know all my vehicles to have for all of our sprayers purchase them and put them in there now we carry in our store and store doc the I know Peter calm it'll be available down in the link or you can find it at our store so another show is just at the word girl show not too long ago and I ran into these guys the manufacturers of Gator eyes and their little LED lights and they were in the outdoor sporting goods section and the first thing that came to my mind was give me a paintbrush and I'm gonna stick that thing on my paintbrush just like this when I'm in when I was doing new construction you don't have access to the lining we're always using halogen lights and stuff like that setting them up to get lighting and some of the darker in dark spaces now you can have an LED light this is look that right here but put yourself into a dark space these things are very very bright and they'll last a significant amount of time and I'm told I'm not sure I'm up to like a hundred hours but I'm not positive on that magnetic many LED lights they can be used for all kinds of things the makers of them or hunters when they're out hunting they would be searching on the blood tracker over there you know the deer was or whatever they shot I'm gonna hunt deer so like that's not know but they would hang these things on limbs and stuff so when they're coming back at night they can find their way back so that's what they created these things for was I'm hunting it outdoors but once again you can use them for tying you know for tying your flies like me being a fly fisherman the the use is just unlimited I'm backcountry snowboarder got lost this last winter snowboarding and you know you couldn't just hang those things on limbs and trees to know where you've gone to where you haven't gone especially when it gets dark Sun started to set we couldn't figure out where we were these things would have been great they come in five packs Gator eyes magnetic LED lights and they clip do anything with a gator clip or I guess a got a magnet sticking to them they these are $9.99 or five pack and we do carry those in our store now because I think there are uses when it comes to painting and I have the back of our van you know there's just one light the back of the van and we're working at night all the time and getting there in the van you can't see very very well at night inside the van keep these things and the van has a magnetic rail so you can just tap these up all over with a magnet and now you can see in your van easily to unload and unload stuff you know when you're painting at night so there's some tools three tools some you should have some you shouldn't have we're gonna get to showing you this thing if it works or not because you know I don't want to say a little bit bad stuff about it and then all of a sudden you know it just miraculously work you know like you're better than you're a Titan in turf n roller so it's only 2395 you know imagine not and the titan in effect the lord is like you know $250 or something like that alright here we go we are going to put this thing to the test because you know I said a lot of negative things you know about the device and I you know you'd have to test it you know and give it a chance because you know you know you know it may work and so I'm gonna put some paint in here we've got some Miller puts it on this is some Miller premium and here we'll just load it up we're gonna put her to the test so the big question is is how is the paint going to come out how long is it gonna take for it to start coming out what happens when you go to lunch and does it just continued to use out so our paint is inside of our roller unfortunately we can't hook it to an extension pole because the ID the inside diameter is you know too small but here's our wall so we'll just start rolling and I don't know if we were supposed to give it commands freaking all but I do see paint coming out okay I see it working its way up okay something's happening folks let's go over here some of the something is happening actually okay I mean it's just kind of like you know if you do have to take time to load up a roller so we could take some time to can see it right here okay it's loading up we'll just continue it's magically you know look at that okay you can hear I mean this painting one of the things I've just now thought that I what is your putting impression er what happens if this cap comes off that could be disastrous there's nothing to secure that cap on there this really saying hey and there's not you can see close-up a big large scene and I was telling you about inside the thing which it'll it'll liebe so there's your stripe on this talking abouth and it's going to leave unfortunately on your wall which unless you're doing the faux finish and you want that stripe but that's kind of an interesting effect but here we go I know the photographers and videographers are absolutely amazed at what's going on here they're thinking about buying one I'm sure let's stick them here on a fresh canvas so it's not releasing a lot of pain but there's if you put a lot of pressure in work it it actually it's cover my arms here's another thing that I'm not weak I do work out my shoulder is already tired because this thing is pretty heavy I'm rolling with a quart of paint in my hand so basically that but way that this is very interesting it's dislike it is like how deeply releasing their pain so but you can still there's our scene here's some bumps right here and edit cuz they've been sitting on the shelf for you know a long time let's continue to roll this wall I think it's it still leaves that strike whoa it's playing in the paint everywhere be careful we do houston we have a problem it's starting to get too loaded up on the edges now which if you go too fast instead of waiting hey so not how you spare you stop it well you know we'll see still feel the same thing and it's not because it's like um this really thin like blue or whatever development and material I mean won't put on a thick coat of paint here we go you could see it you know these are the spots right there that give out Matt I think I'm going to put these and every one of my vehicles but that's it Joe so here's somebody will come out of my life I'm gonna say that I said that the old it worked but you see the handles so small I got no hands I can't even wrap it and my arm is getting pretty tired whoa let me we'll continue to roll here they see we're continuing their work this baby it's having a tendency to drag again we're gonna just do this whole entire wall like that lady that caught my high and got me to buy the lady that's how high it was her using the tool the tool that caught my eye so it's still doing this it's like releasing a lot along the edges and stuff but that's kind of interesting it's not like releasing too much now the question but it's releasing so you can see what's happening now see how it's now that it's getting loaded up it's leaving this heavy trailing edge because you have to put enough pressure to get it to release the pain it's you know I know what's going to happen if some people miss me I didn't give it enough time and any you should get properly it is still really gaining heavy because I don't think it's used to very much pain we'll see how much pain is still inside there well it's actually almost empty the paint's almost all gone probably can't see that but it's probably at least 3/4 of the way empty so now you would just fill it again and my question is is like if I set it down like this now because I gotta go to lunch is all my paint gonna leak out of it but there's some concerns about you know the sturdiness of this this thing is you can see this just so there's nothing that keeps it locked in place it just pops off and sticks back to home kind of interesting I starting to like pour out the sides now that edge it's gonna end up now where it spins it's working down into where it spins that's gonna be chocolate so eventually over here see if it's still making you can see it's still making that line so the lines never gonna go away right there anyways I mean it actually is performing better than I thought healed so to give it that will throw some more pain in there I'm gonna throw some pain in there and let it sack for a while go to lunch see what happens we're just loaded up one more time waste forty dollars and paint on this thing wear gloves apparently yeah we'll just paint the tablecloth paint our wall here well now it's really good it's activated now I reloaded it up it's not rolling so good now it's not rolling very good at all because it's got I've loaded it a second time and it's so heavy it's too heavy to roll that's a problem now it's yes big problem okay what's wrong they were on such a smooth surface here really given it so it's really starting to leak out my edges here but I don't know let's see on a rough wall though it's still dragging let's see I can't control the release so it's starting to release way too much paint on the edges and we got a fly come in and hear anything about dust now I'm really concerned about this because this thing no it's like good sites well so now it's really now I'm starting to pour out the edges so that's going to be a bad thing it's a sour quickie paint like everywhere that's causing guilties heavy failure edges now but if you've got gold it gets rid of it I don't know so let us know what you think of this tool is it worth 2395 it's there give you 2395 worth of a workout that's for sure there we go our test
