What happens here

This video provides an explanation from a DIY expert regarding the decision-making process for handling old door hardware when painting or trimming a door. The presenter addresses the common question of whether to remove existing hardware, particularly when it's antique or very old. He explains why he often chooses to mask around the hardware with Frog Tape rather than removing it, detailing the risks associated with disassembling old mechanisms and the potential cost of replacement if components are damaged.

so i'm working on trimming this door out i did do a video spraying this door up and got some questions why didn't i remove the hardware this hardware is extremely old customer's not going to be replacing it it does have paint around the edge of it we mask with frog tape we spray around the door we don't like to remove really old hardware because it could fall apart come apart internally inside and then you're gonna have to buy a new door knob for the customer it's functioning well if you mask correctly with frog tape and spray around it it'll look nice
