that's not cool not cool solve this problem let's go not cool still not let's go let's go SCU tough check it out putting it to the test what tip are you using oh just a little guy it's just a little five it's actually really little cuz I was just doing that small bathroom 515 I should have like been using took me a little while I should have used like a 619 but it's just a little bathroom um when I switch to this I'll switch to like a six probably a 621 or 1221 shot the it's scuffed off so far the stuff is pretty damn nice so I shot a matte green downstairs we'll have to go let's go check it out so this is I put scuff off semi gloss on the tram right on I like it and uh I like it cuz it's not as shiny as like Emerald urethane it's kind of the semigloss is a little bit dled down the walls are going to be matte it's going to look sick um so this is going to be a rough and rompen house with a bunch of kids so we're putting scuff tff in here so you got to check um somebody said no eye protection oh my eyes are good um thanks for caring but my eyes are good um look at that so that's um duration Sherin Williams duration on Pure White so pure white still what uh two coats blam two coats and done it was um how about this so scuff tff uh scuff tff mat so um when I was shooting this stuff people were like I'm going to be sanding out drips and runs for days and apparently there's no drips and runs to sand out so um this stuff hangs pretty well um dries fast I got to say um for all the people that thought I was going to be you s out drips and runs not one run not one sag not bad for scuff tff and uh not bad for never even spraying it before I got to say you know first time I've ever sprayed it it's pretty userfriendly um I would say uh probably a great product for somebody that even doesn't have experience spraying to learn on it I think it's probably you know the learning curve uh would be a little bit shorter than even Emerald urethane said Matt walls for kids yes um so yeah matte walls for kids but it's scuff tff and so it's uh when you read the TDS on it it's meant for high traffic areas in commercial buildings and so I know um you know there's multiple products out there like um Benjamin more scuff a and people were raving about that you know being scuff resistant so I I think like you know here it is that's Matt and um we're going to see we're going to find out like a year after a thousand kids have run through here how many how many sanding and Bondo and you do that on that yeah so that Manel um that was I spackled it sand it bonded it sanded it primed it sanded it Bondo it sanded it Bondo it shot a coat sanded it shot a coat done so and and this is two Co are you going to be done with the door after two Co so the door's done two coats so um I got to say like this is duration exterior I have a lot of experience yo spraying this stuff if you look at this color right here one thing uh that's you got to understand this door was Pure White uh when I sprayed it and one coat was it was covered in one coat so I was actually blown away I thought I was going to have to shoot on a P3 uh gray primer on it uh before the red and so I was like oh no man but I was like I'll shoot one coat and see how it goes and holy cow it was covered in see theen bathro yeah let's go see the green bathroom um let me take this off so check out this is look at that got to fix my line there um so two coats we'll go check out the bathroom it's matte um Matt scuff tff so look at that that is what I call pretty sick it's still wet a little bit uh it's still wet I just sprayed it but look at that finish man look at that finish yeah baby let's go there's a big Mark right there we missed um filling have to go back and fill we'll see how it touches up this is all going to be white in here white white I'm going to come down here and spray what I just sprayed in the bathroom so uh does anybody have any questions sure William scuff tff anybody got any questions on it content I just bought a sprayer for some doors cry my house interior your clut cool man glad to help um glad to hear that so any questions at all no questions um so the the process the the scuff top is going over PVA primer so I uh PVA Prime the walls did the rep just come in here and be surprised that this is just Prime shoot I forgot I was going to put that in the bathroom and I forgot you have to do it the shoot um was going to put some smelly juice in it you can't um I'll do it for the laundry room right now put smelly juice in for the laundry room we're going to make the laundry room smell like vanilla bean um hopefully people don't start licking and eating the walls but I'm I'm getting close to being um done just got walls to do um so far let's I mean all the all the trim was sprayed scuff tough Ider white um closets here's a a p uh Butler Pantry so Butler Pantry was sprayed scuff tff uh semi gloss right there so all the closets are scuff tff semi gloss they look absolutely amazing so they're going to be pretty dang durable um scuff is an enamel water-based enamel if you didn't know um interior paint uh right here here's can show you there's you think it's durable enough for utility rooms cabinets uh well like um it's a new product so uh you know just from what I read on the TDS you know it was meant for like commercial um High trffic areas not just for you know houses a wall painting you know for a house so I'm curious what everybody else thinks I mean scuff scuff resistant technology so it's supposed to be Mar and scuff resistant is supposed to be um you know extremely washable you know so um definitely can smell chemicals in it when I'm spraying that's for sure um ash7 says mancher UK fellow painter just interested to know when doing dark trim what do you paint first walls or trim on a job right now with black wood work I mean so in regardless to the color I always do trim first so I mean you see the mantle right there you know that's an accent mantel it's it's a lot easier to actually mass that mantle off now and do the walls but whether the trim is white or whether the trim you know is black we always do all our woodwork first I mean it for um there's been it's been over 25 years and that's the the only exception to that rule would be like you know um if you're hand brushing stuff maybe you know uh but we don't hand brush anything everything in new constr this is new construction so everything in new construction is sprayed and I don't know anybody I've never even heard of anybody doing it first and one of the reasons is here I'll just give you I I'll answer the question why right here so so this is a good example why so right now all I've got to do is mask this off only this mantle right here it's really simple to mask this mantle off if I if I did the walls first and then I was going to mask and spray the mantle when I shoot here this overspray is carried up this wall it's carried way up there you would have to be masking out look there's specks all the way out here there's specs down here you literally would be pulling plastic all the way out here pulling plastic all the way up the ceiling so if you do your masking or if you do your trim after your walls it's an astronomical amount of masking that you have to do you would have to drop masking from here to the floor from here all the way up that ceiling so you know that's kind of a simple way to explain why you know um trim is always first you know you know um the masking just easier any more questions before we get back to work waiting for more paint to be delivered yeah we're waiting for um paint unfortunately um so you need a painter if you're in the Boise area Boise painter um right there highly recommend them highly recommend them boys painters I'll tell you why in the comments um if you need a painter in Boise Idaho that right there that's that's your people man how would you tackle a tall twostory twoot scap and a sprayer extender um I don't that was an interesting way you read that how would you tell a tall twostory I mean twostory houses foot scaffolding and a spray extender I mean I I like I mean you know my entire career it's uh it's just a mix of um extension ladders a mix of booms as I have progressed over the years I've rented more and more booms like this exterior it's new construction uh I actually have a friend that rents a boom by the year he just rents the whole entire year and so it's cheaper that way if you're going to be using it a lot I mean you could just drive around this two story exterior all the way around it no obstructions and boom it and be done so fast and easy but you I've used booms I've used extensions I've been on scaffolding with ladders on scaffolding um and you know I've done things that are like just dangerous on scaffolding you don't want to do um one time we were on like two story of scaffolding and we um one of my guys was trying to mask a a fire um one of the things that shoots out water you know if a fire happens he was trying to mask around it he had a A-frame ladder on top the scaffolding with no railing and he was um using his 5 in one around the sprinkler he hit the little glass vial and it set off the sprinklers and it's absolutely amazing when the sprinklers went off that he didn't come flying off the ladder and um and die or be seriously injured so uh we when you're on scaffolding man like I'm actually afraid of heights so I'm I try to like be careful I I can't stress it enough I mean you just got to like deal with I mean uh ladders uh with um ladder boots ladder levelers I've used just combinations of all kinds of things that work at weird Heights and weird angles it's just trying to just gather all I I got a tra their full of resources and it's kind of endless you know um said thanks for your Prof profal knowledge it's truly Priceless warm 3112 says been a f for a few cool um gr hat said do you still work with your previous own company no my previous company was bnk painting and um the John Cole who worked for for me for a lot a lot of years um who everybody knows is um knows him as journeyman John he ended up buying the company and he operates that company in the Valley and he's probably three times bigger than I was and doing extremely well in the last time like I I run into John every now and then I consider him a friend and he the last time I T I talked to him and he would checked the guys that all worked for me and underne John still work for him so um he's running an amazing company so now I just operate solo um so my company's the Idaho painter so I paint as me um so any more questions no time to get back to work yeah time to go I got to go down spray the laundry room now so um I'm putting this scuff t to the test if you have any experience with it you know cuz I like to like review products that test products one of the things I test a lot of different stuff now to be able to give people feedback and so far obviously I can't tell you the durability of it cuz like this is the first time I've used it I can tell you um from an application standpoint from a professional painter's point of view that uh how we actually paint it performs pretty well what I like to see is it covers it covers absolutely amazing that chocolate brown was two coats um it covers amazing it hangs well so it doesn't run um it levels out flows um extremely well it has a nice soft buttery um kind of velvety feel to it it's a little bit different Emerald has kind of a buttery thicker feel to it but um but um one more tips to grow a small business tips to grow a small business you know like to me like um you know just My overall philosophy was to offer an amazing paint job at afford at an affordable price and just give absolutely amazing customer service and that you know just working off you know those three things you know uh worked really well for me and the biggest thing is is customer service and um and my my company was you know based off of referrals and the one tip I'll give you is people will never forget you and your company if they refer you and you recognize them for that referral and because I would say you know very rare if ever people just you know thank people for the referral what we did is every single customer that called our office which reached Lisa uh Lisa would ask him how' you hear um about us and they would say oh I was referred by so and so Lisa would write it down and that individual we sent them either A10 or $15 um Starbucks gift card and we got to a point where we were sending out stacks of them every month and when that person re receives that Starbucks gift card they'll never forget you and never forget that you acknowledge just them you know referring you so that was one of the big drivers you know you know in our business was referrals so there's a tip for you um to get referrals back to work back to work
