Now it's ready for the farm work! 10 min ATV upgrade that's a game changer!

hey there folks this is josh stoney ridge farmer welcome back to another mechanic mondays here on the stoney ridge farm we got something pretty fun to do today so we'll take you and we're going to show you one atv that i use on the farm all the time and another atv that i'm putting into service and we've got to do some upgrades to it so welcome to mechanic mondays here on the stoney ridge farm let's get busy wrenching [Music] hey so this is what we're gonna be doing today this is an awesome rack so this is i'm gonna go ahead and open her up and we're gonna show you the one i've got on the other atv also this is a titan atv rack and this is going on the back of my atv here and this is a circa 1990 to 1994 honda four tracks 300 full-time four-wheel drive that i picked up from a good friend his name is brandon thank you for the deal on this four wheeler i bought it for around yeah thirty one hundred 100 mark something like that and it's proven itself very useful on the farm it won't pull my bale unroller which is behind the big honda you see right here and i'm not a red four-wheeler guy but i have all red four wheelers so this is number three of many more probably to come i'm actually going to be selling my side-by-side i've got a kubota rtv x1140 these little atvs have proven to be much more useful and much quieter and much easier for me to get around zip around the farm on a lightweight machine that won't leave ruts in my pastures so what we're installing today on this atv is very similar to what we have on this atv i need a way to tote stuff to carry stuff to pick up rocks to pick up trash to haul things around on the farm we've already made one little upgrade to the other atv and this pulls my bailin roller this is called a greg judy bailin roller this is an instrumental part of my farm you can find them at greenpasturesfarm.net this is what i do i unroll hay bales on the farm instead of putting fertilizer out on the lance in other words i unroll a hay bale that's got grass seed it's got nutrients for the cows and the cows poop out the butt fertilizer and feed the land so it's a regenerative farm that's what we're doing here so what we're going to install here on mechanic mondays is a rack very similar to this i'll post links to all these racks that we're using here on all the utvs or utility vehicle i say utility vehicle atvs and we're going to get busy wrenching this should be a quick and fun install for mechanic mondays and we're going to be using the tailgate a red yoda i'm not a big unboxing guy but i am going to unbox this because i've got to simply take it out of the box this is a cool tool this is a milwaukee gosh what is it called fastback i use this every single day this is my go-to it stays on my hip every day all day everywhere i go what a handy little tool we can just replace the blade we're gonna open this guy up again this is from titan titan attachments and titan attachments is a big supporter of the stoney ridge farm channel they have been absolutely fantastic to work with basically transforms my atv into a utv and what i also found we're going to compare this with the copeland rack that i have over there there's something on the copeland rack that i just never use it's just a waste and it broke like almost immediately as soon as i got the rack so i think it's important to be honest for sure so this basket right here will go off the rear of the machine it will actually hang off of the rear just like so really extending the use of my machine got all my instructions right here uh pretty simple stuff to follow looks like we only have i think six bolts so we'll get to work and get the wrenching very simple this just came out we're gonna flip it over just like so there is a little tab right here we're gonna line it up with the notch titan has a info card let's get started view the manual online you can look it up if you have any questions or you can call 1-800 number that's cool what we've got here is a group of parts for this critter to install put together looks like we got two of those four of those several other little pieces and nuts bolts and washers this truck is a utility vehicle also man look at all the junk in there i got a lot going on on the farm four bolts eight washers and four nuts here we go place the washer go right through here we're gonna loosely install everything and then we're gonna install it permanently tightening it up repeat on both sides [Music] first thing we're going to do got to install this little bracket this little bracket is pretty simple looks like it just goes right up underneath there and connects to our rack might be a little bit troublesome to fish this bolt down through there but we'll get it figured out so we'll put a washer and a washer and we'll slip that bolt down in there just getting them started right now this is what supports this entire apparatus i'm gonna get everything all laid out in place here and that would go underneath there but it doesn't serve a purpose underneath there this is a universal mount so we're gonna set this to the side because we don't need it next one we'll install we'll cross over right over here washer i'm super ocd my washer can't be upside down that's upside down it has to be the correct way it drives me crazy to put them on wrong slip this underneath install that one [Music] install that one everything loosely installed at first we'll go right over here to the other side this is the bracket it goes underneath reason i'm doing this loosely is so that i can make sure this rack is totally centered before i start snugging everything down tight next bracket goes up under here and then there's another one exactly like it for the other side drop that guy in this couldn't be easier guys now that may or may not wear into my plastic down here no i don't think it will can't be tearing up my vintage four-wheeler this thing's awesome now it is time for the man test the true test of any titan anything that claims to be titan is will it hold a titan i'm 210 pounds or so will it hold a 210 pound man yeah baby yes it will that is a true test i like to give it a little bit of soros so that's it that's all so now we've got a utility vehicle where before we just had a four-wheeler awesome i also put a little uh toolbox right here on the front just a small toolbox this has my cattle bander and it also has my ear tagger for my cattle this front rack is similar to the titan front rack we're going to be putting on the other machine so i'm going to go ahead and order the titan front rack i think in my opinion that titan rack is a little more user friendly and a whole lot easier to install than the copeland right here this is the copeland rack and what i found these broke immediately like i said this has a tailgate on it i set them down and those broke almost immediately i will get some of these rhino grips if you're looking for a grip to put on your atv or utv these are fantastic you just hit a button right here they release just like that and they ratchet down closed they'll open way up wide so you can put those things that you hunt with in there if you want to or like me fence post tripod all kinds of stuff so that's it she looks good looks really good that is super sturdy and now i'll be able to throw rocks in there i'll put a couple
