What happens here
With the foundation and ledger board securely in place, the main support beams, typically made from treated lumber, are laid out and fastened to the foundational posts. These beams establish the primary perimeter and main load-bearing components of the deck. Next, numerous wooden joists are cut to precise sizes and installed perpendicular to both the ledger board and the main beams. This creates the essential grid-like framework that will support the decking boards. Joist hangers are commonly used to create strong and secure connections between joists and beams/ledger. Blocking or rim joists are then added to the perimeter and between joists for increased structural rigidity and to create a neat, finished edge. Finally, a black protective coating, such as a waterproofing sealant or an exterior stain, is applied to all exposed wooden components of the frame to enhance weather resistance, protect against rot and insects, and improve durability before the deck boards are installed.
Goal: Construct the complete structural frame of the deck and apply protective coatings
