What happens here
Position the composite board with the routed V-groove over the edge of a sturdy workbench or surface, aligning the groove with the desired bend point. Using a Milwaukee heat gun, apply steady, even heat directly along the V-groove. Continuously move the heat gun to prevent overheating any single spot. As the material softens and becomes pliable, carefully and slowly bend the composite board along the V-groove to achieve a perfect 90-degree corner. Hold the bend in place until the material cools and retains its new shape, forming an L-shaped post sleeve component.
Goal: Form a 90-degree corner in the composite board for a post sleeve.
Tools and materials
- Composite Decking Material — The V-grooved board to be bent
- Heat-Resistant Gloves — For hand protection during heating and bending
- Milwaukee Heat Gun Milwaukee — For softening the composite material to allow bending
