What happens here

Recognizing that automatic hook-setting is not legal in all areas, such as Minnesota, the presenter demonstrates how to convert the Clam Predator Tip Up to a flag-only trigger system. First, the existing automatic trigger mechanism is removed by simply unhooking it from its mounting points. Next, a small, white plastic sleeve, which acts as the flag-only trigger, is slid onto the flag arm. The flag arm is then hooked into this new plastic trigger. Finally, the fishing line is placed into a specific notch on the flag arm, positioned over the new trigger point. This setup ensures that only the flag will deploy when a fish bites, without automatically setting the hook.

Goal: Switch to flag-only notification mode
