Prepare Caulk Gun and Tube

What happens here

Before applying caulk, ensure the caulk tube is properly prepared. First, cut the tip of the caulk tube at a 45-degree angle to the desired bead size. A smaller opening will create a finer line, while a larger opening will create a thicker line. Then, puncture the inner seal of the caulk tube with the long metal rod typically found on the side of most caulk guns. Load the prepared caulk tube into a caulk gun.
