What happens here

After successfully completing the first cut, carefully remove the saw and any loose concrete dust or small fragments from the work area. Rotate the concrete block 90 degrees so that the previously cut surface is now perpendicular to the intended line of the second cut. Reposition the concrete saw and align the diamond blade to make a second straight cut. This cut should extend from one side of the block, perpendicular to the first cut, and meet precisely at the end point of the initial cut. This careful alignment will result in an L-shaped notch being removed from the block, creating a custom fit for a pipe.

Goal: Form an L-shaped notch in the concrete block for pipe accommodation.

Tools and materials

  • Concrete Block — The object being shaped to fit around a pipe
  • Concrete Saw Stihl — Making the second perpendicular cut to complete the notch
  • Dust Mask / Respirator — Respiratory protection from concrete dust
  • Hearing Protection — Ear protection from loud machinery noise
  • Safety Glasses — Eye protection during the cutting process
  • Work Gloves — Hand protection and improved grip
  • Water Source/Hose — Dust suppression and cooling the concrete saw blade
