These are the three biggest mistakes I made in business. If you know somebody who dreams of running a successful company, share this with them so they don't make the same mistakes that I did. Mistake number one is hiring my friends just because they needed a job. Yeah, you definitely want to see your friends do good, but not at the expense of your business. Hire based on reliability, not comfortability. Your friend might just not take your business as seriously, and anytime money is involved, you could lose a friend, so it's not worth it. Mistake number two is being cheap. When I first started, I gave out low prices for my electrical service. And that is when I realized it only brought me to even more customers who do not value quality and always want the cheapest price. It is just a rat race to the bottom. Know your worth and always value your services. So, after that, I raised our prices to attract clients that value quality. You're pay for experience and our knowledge. Mistake number three is being comfortable with residential. I like staying residential because it was convenient and great, but I realized if you don't expand to commercial, you'll start to leave money on the table. Commercial relationships and commercial jobs all have more money than residential. So that's when I started to put my name out there and contacting every corporate CEO that I know. Now we are on pace to be a sevenf figureure company in the near future. I wish I did this sooner. Learn from my mistakes.
